Hello all,

I’ve gone through loads of threads on the electronic conversion. I’m sold (and happy to carry a spare when traveling abroad). My questions are:

1) Mine is a South American rig (smaller dizzy). I think I’m going Initor II, but to determine the model, pull numbers from bottom of my existing distributor?

2) What about full electronic systems? Trollhole ($300+) vs cheaper (~$100) like this. Is there a 3x difference between these? Is this preferable to Pertronix?

Thanks,
B

I have to "call the ball". Pertronix is wonderfull , I have had it for >10 years. All the others are money systems that work great BUT , cost a bunch more money.

Hey Brice ,

I have been slowly but steadily tweaking My complete new F & 2F ignition system installs past few years both on my own trucks & Client shop jobs , here's the latest set up I go with & why :

- OEM toyota Plugs & wires & coil wire ( Reliable Fit , finish & long term performance )

- OEM toyota Internal Ballast Resister Coil W/ bracket ( Reliable Fit , finish & long term performance , ballast inside lives forever , unlike external ones , the bracket will mount on a 2F cylinder head upside down to migrate any water off stay dry and is hovering right over the distributor cap )

- @Racer65 Med Cap anti-over REV Distributor ( Less moving parts then small cap / NO points adjustment dumb clear dial cap to Crap off and water to migrate inside dist. assy , Shop Clients can't turn and play with it themselves )

- Pentronix Igniter II ( easy to install , easy to hook up to the coil only 2 wires , Long term reliable HIGH Quality part , No Moving parts / maintenance free , For most part entire system with exception of the spark plugs themselves are Long-Term Maintence free , with Minimum Moving wearable parts )

I would Highly recommend the Pentronix Igniter II set up for your Small Cap Dist. assy

That requires a dented side plate?

I am trying to figure out what to do myself as I move from a vac retard dizzy with PO installed petronix (not sure what kit) to a vac advance.

The ‘medium cap’ dizzy will work just fine with the stock side cover.

- Get a better photo of your green tag that shows the top portion

- looks like the first half of the part# is 19100-61 ### ?

- Reason NOT to Use the Flame thrower coil is it's Not a OEM Factory Toyota Part & it will Not have the correct Mounting U need bracket with it / On it

corner was lose so i peeled it off. this is about as good as it gets. I think it does look like 61021. is it worth keeping and adding the pertronix or should i change it out?
Thanks for taking the time to respond!

61021 like @65swb45 suggested

It looks like Age & Time have taken its tole on it , Theirs nothing better then Fresh Hot Spark Combined with New NO WEAR Moving parts / tight tolerances & clearances keeping timing in check Solid ......

BuY a new one and invest the pentronix time and resources there

my 2 cents

I have heard of alot of people complaining that their pertronix modules burned up, I have 3 or 4 in different vehicles, never had an issue. I have had one in a car (289 ford engine, but same technology in the Pertronix) for about 15 years, no issues

I have Never heard of or Experienced Personally a Pentronix problem of any kind ?

but Google would answer this question for sure o_O

i believe most of those come back to having left a key in the ignition turned on for extended periods with the engine not running.

my current setup is a new non usa oem dissy with the gen 1 pertronix kit.
only in sevice a few months now, but so far i like it.

can you point me in the right direction as to which new dist will work well (link or modle number)?

Thanks!

This is the Medium Cap Dist. assy I use in my own truck & install in my shop client vehicals 19100-61180

Read My 2 cents a few post's above on why i like this set-up from A OEM Toyota Genuine Parts Point of View
