I'm hoping the limiter strap will control most of the uncontrolled unloading of both springs at once.

nope...

ask me how I know

flexy!!!!

those bilstiens look they're gonna work out pretty well for ya todd ;)

They work pretty well. :D

Captured the bottoms. The tops are locating just fine with the bumpstops inside the springs.

I'm gonna capture the tops as well. The springs banging and popping are driving me nuts.

Told ya ;)

flexy 55

Got her pretty well buttoned up yesterday. I went and got the district fork truck to see how it flexed.

36" off the ground on the front wheels

38" on the rears with some room to go. Tons of shock travel left. I was running into my quarters quite a bit. They still need a bunch of trimming

That's with the sway bar hooked up. I didn't bother to unhook it because I was pretty darn happy with what I already had and the body was staying damn level compared to the SOA.

Then we drove it a couple of miles down the road to get some lunch. Handles much, much better than I expected. Not a ton of body lean in the corners. Tracks straight. Not any excessive dive or squat.

Cable lockers work very well. I'm very happy with them as well.

Now I gotta get it to the Cliffs for some real testing.:pig: :pig: :pig:

That thing looks AWESOME!! I can't wait to get mine going.I did a full ff/rr conversion on my 60, its been too long since I started - thanks for the motivation !!

so with the springs captured up top and bottom it doesnt limit droop when compared to it being un captured up top?

or does it only limit it very little?

it only limits uncontrolled droop. Makes it a lot more stable.

How much droop it limits is based on the spring design..

so there is no "real" advantage offroad of an uncaptured coil.

ok thats what i thought
so it has advantages but losing a spring is never fun.

limit straps are hard sometimes. It is difficult to find a strap that will allow for full articulation/compression without other compromises.

Plus it REALLY sucks when they break..

Just capture the uppers and lowers. Spring fatigue is an issue, but it is really not hat big of a deal. I am on the 5th year of mine. no problems at all..

Gumby, do you have any pictures of how you captured your springs?

I in a buddyes samuray with a hook .. L form and attach it by bolt and nut to the upper and lower coil base.
