Nice setup you have there Steve. What fridge do you plan on getting? I like my cheap EdgeStar....

The OUTBACK drawers are the original ones and the African Outback was made under some sort of license. The new Outback drawers are much nicer than the African Outback in terms of finish and all the custom plastic trim and handle / latch.

As for sleeping, no problem. There is a difference on a load spec for driving around with a point load on any of the tops vs. a spread out load when sleeping on the platform.

Final fit and finish done...received several grey roof panel plugs from CDan to cover up the upper seatbelt mounting holes in the trim #90467-07104-B0, and cost a few bucks. The only modification was to use hot-glue as the pin was a little smaller than the hole.

Also used Dorman 5/16 Body Panel plugs, #464340BP, sourced from O'Reilly for the side panel holes which previously had some odd screw-in hooks. The OCD side of me searches out clean solutions to button-things up.

P.S. Still contemplating the fridge, but leaning towards the Engel MT45, due to the mounting setup which looks very stout.

I love my Outback Roller Drawers! Been waiting for about five months for my custom sleeping extension from a certain vendor that will go unnamed though

Not much time this weekend for Cruiser wrenching, but I did get in a much needed minor mod to the drawers...stainless-steel hardware and two quick holes and the Corona Opener mod has been accomplished. Had to celebrate with a cold Stella

Filling up the drawers, and came up with a good organization solution. Instead of going with drawer dividers, I went with "Really Useful Boxes". These come in so many different sizes that it is pretty easy to find the right combination for your stuff. I like the idea of keeping my tools in one box, recovery gear in others, spares, etc.

They are not cheap, but worth the money. I have been using them at home for some time, sturdy, clear so you can see the contents. Happy with the positive closure too, as no boxes open on their own.

I've added this to my "favorites" and will be coming back to it. Something that I didn't see on the ARB site was the weight. Do you have a guess as to the weight?

My guess for all the components is somewhere between 115 and 125#. Can check the waybill from the shipper when back in the office next week. Drove the truck 400 miles in the last week fully loaded with gear and no rattles, squeaks or noises whatsoever.

A rough estimate was what I was looking for and that doesn't seem too heavy in the grand scheme of things. I spoke with Wil yesterday at Sierra. Nice guy...helpful. Apparently ARB doesn't make a system specifically for a 62 but Will seems to think the drawers will work and side panels (if that's what they are called) could be fabbed from wood and covered with carpet.

I'm camping this weekend on the WA coast digging Razor Clams. The back of the 62 has camping "stuff" everywhere. I'm interested in getting that more organized, etc and I REALLY like the look of the drawers that you've intstalled. It would be great to have everything loaded and ready to go. I'd probably camp more often. As soon as I recover from my recent Inti rack purchase this will be on my list. Hopefully by summer.

Thanks.

Awesome thread CycloSteve.. any way you can fix the pictures. they dont show up..

Thanks!!!

Any recent installs of these in an 80???

Any chance you have pics of how you attached to the floor? It's not making sense to me.

The drawer frames bolt to the rear seat belt anchors (which you remove). There are shims that come in the install kit so you don't torque the frame when you tighten it down. This becomes especially important as there is a plastic trim strip the rests into the grooved threashold between the carpeted floor of the cargo area and the drop gate opening. If it's not shimmed properly, you'll crush the plastic trim.

The instructions say to drill a hole where there already is one for the tiedown straps.

Did you redrill the hole as the instructions state or did you use the existing hole?

I don't recall drilling any new holes in the frame. Everything lined up on mine. All of the mounts on the bottom had some sliding adjustability if I recall.
