beings that it was mothers day weekend, i didnt have a lot of truck time.
more yardwork, which is necessary after all, just way less fun.
so progress over the last week has that the trans and cases went together and met as a whole on the BudBuilt.com crossmember.

the overall length from bell edge to flange face is 44 11/16 (1135mm)
the R-150 is .5" shorter than the W-56, the adapter make up the .5".
this makes my geartrain the same length as before.

i had Bud (www.budbuilt.com) build the crossmember specifically for the 79 with the longer W56 trans and duals set up.
i am using two stock t-case mounts, the larger is from a 3rd gen truck, search pirate for more accurate model years breaks.
the crossmember uses countersunk allen bolts for the t-case mounts as well as the larger skidplate portion.

and on a side note, i think i found the person who murdered my original motor for this project.
check this out. customer calls yesterday and says the oil lamp came on and it made a funny noise before it died. what kind of noise do you suppose this made.

this head actually seized the cam in the head, then spun the cam pulley off. you can sort of see in the one pic how hot that area was. also on the front of the cam, its blued from the heat.

lets try to keep the oil changes under 5k, and stay away from pennzoil.
spend a few extra cents and at least buy decent oil. its a lot cheaper than the repair bill for this motor.

i got the o2 sensors yesterday
the rest of the exhaust stuff should show up this week
the new radiator is getting picked up this afternoon.
truck is going to my pals to get some welding done, i dont have time right now.
hes welding the sliders, rear bumper, box mount, the crossmember and seat mounts.

i am really going to make the pre run with it.

truck finally made it home tonite.
as of now the trans and cases are in and crossmember is done.

i bet the bling aluminum mandrel bend will hold up better.
i am building a custom intake tube since i am keeping my battery location stock.

you cant/shouldnt use an oiled filter like a K&N with the toyota MAF. it lets oil get on the sensor, which collects dust and creates a lean condition in the car.

besides, nano anything is the s*** right?
