How much were those rims? Im looking for some new rims, seems there is 2 levels in quality and 2 levels in price $70 and $120.
Did they come from OL?

rims are 15x10's and are op lock racing rims with oversize bead huggers, so dont try to put a tyre on them without a machine.... impossible

cost me like $110 each i think

I also got some of my parts for the SOA conversion, perches, shock mounts, front hangers for shackle reversal, brackets for ladder bar, rear shock upper inversion plate coming and high steer billet steel knuckles

You've got some work head of you there.
Winters here ,I hope you have somewhere warm and dry to work:D
Whats next?

Spring over, highsteer, put back together, new tranni transfer new engine in, custom tranni crossmember, body on, get it working, trubo/intercooler setup, 4" stanless custom snorkle, 4" exhaust 4" dump into 6" stacks hehe

then its fun time

I envy you guys who have the patience and know how to take on a project like this. Sure looks and sounds as though you have some work in font of you.

Great photos and good luck with the rebuild. Its sure going to be an awesome truck once complete.

Whats the biggest thrill?? building it?? or using it once you have built it?? Whats in line for it once complete.

Thanks dude,

Building it is hard work and unforgiving but a great experience. I wouldn't pass it up for the world.

When its done i can try it out and see what my hard work has achieved - that being the greatest part...

Once finished i will endeavor to license and roadworthy it after a while, if i cant it will be strictly off road and then... ill go much further with it.

Just looking at some of your earlier pics, you've done a fait bit already when you look at it. Just noticed the last pic, with the heater controls. Its the same aircon controls as my new truck. 1st 70 series trucks sold with aircon standard here in NZ, bout time.!!. Ive had some hot dusty trips in my old 91 75.
With those big rims and the spacers, do you need to do anything with bearings etc, must put a big load on things, (axles etc) especially considering the horsepower you will have with the garret turbo. I see you giuys can get heavy duty axles and diffs, are they a local manufacture, or the old axles etc, heat treated to make them stronger?? Sorry bout all the questions, I would'nt mind a 75 play truck, but don't have the know how or the shed space. Theres a fair chance I would end up living alone as well, but a tricked 75 would just about be worth it

:whoops: Did I say that??

hehe wankfactor +

at work we dyno big diesels and they work much better without any exhaust appx 10% more

now thats what i want... but i think exhaust going into the engine bay then to the eyes wont b too good, so 4"-7" it is :flipoff2:

I'm with you, the bigger the better, got to be able to let those trucks breath.

if something is possible and im able to do it...

im going to do it!

plain and simple

:D:D

a massive exhaust will increase the spool time (lag) on the turbo due to lack of backpressure.

Just something to keep in mind.

and how... makes no sense..?
uhhh... dont say something you cant back up or ill have to make a rant....

and oh i rant well :flipoff2:

Update:

Got a bit done to the chassis, well i got it to the stage where i can now perform the spring over and drive line lowering exercises..
  • I cut the chassis down to the desired length, just behind last cross member, soon to be replaced by a custom Reece type receiver as ive built before on smash's patrol.
  • Removed rear fuel tank for repositioning later.
  • Removed all unnecessary bracketing such as exhaust mounts and crap thats never used, to make room for new mods.
  • Removed shockies to find that 3 were seized on the stroke
  • Removed all brake lines/breathers and all steering on diffs ready for SOA
  • Got engine mounts ready for being cut off and lowered
  • Took tranni cross member off for modding
  • Rebuilt new springs and flipped centre pin for the SOA position.

Pix follow

Looking good zolt.

But you might want to make bigger (longer) perches up top.
It helps keep axle wrap down. Maybe 10" or so

Cheers,
Nick

im building a ladder bar/torque bar so that wont be a problem
