Sounds pretty similar to a fun 'autocross' style event that I did (with my parents) when I was a kid> Clues on the path, things to look for, points for answering questions correctly, some points for the quickest time, but it was less about that and more about fun and using your brain.
LOTS of work involved though. Might be fun to put together something similar at URE with some shooting, fishing, off roading..
Seems like something that's less about the fastest time and more about intelligent decision making and precision could be put together for us older guys. Off roading to get from place to place with puzzles, games, shooting challenges, etc along the way. I'd be down for that. The extreme physical side of the 36hrs of URE is what puts me off.Catching up on this. In the 90s, Bob Hazel (pains me to type that name) ran / promoted an event call the Safari Triathalon. It was a combination of a TSD rally, canoeing, and shooting. Each team had to be 100% self-sufficient with their one vehicle. A good friend competed one year and asked me to compete with him the next. We did a boatload of training and the series was discontinued before I cound compete (as navigator).
I was really disappointed and would love to do it still. Just not so sure my 50 something body is up to it![]()
