Looks like there is plenty of room, but I'll still send both sizes so you won't get stuck. You can ship back what you don't use.

As for the oil cooler, I'm talking about the engine oil cooler that Toyota opted to leave off the 460. It can be added with some machining.

Sounds good. Please let me know when I can order and where I can do it.
Engine oil cooler,, very interesting.
I can see the use on a truck that is been used in racing, heavy towing, off roading or maybe as a taxi but my truck does spend 90% of the time on the highway and country roads. Can you educate me on what difference would a engine oil cooler make in my case ? please.
I often wonder how and why manufacturers decide what and how a vehicle should be equipped. My bet is that, that oil cooler is installed on a GS that may see a track day in its life but they would not install one on a truck may spend is life towing.
Thank you

I will let you know when things are ready.

Oil coolers are typically part of towing packages on trucks, you want one for the same reason you added the unit for your transmission... a simple oil to coolant heat exchanger as pictured on the 4.0l V6 filter mount will suffice for many applications.

Tundra that I use for work have transmission and engine oil cooler. You do make a good point. Would I be required to run the same cooler like I installed for the transmission ?? Transmission cooler turns the fan on at 175 degree and shuts down at 140.
In my picture you can see two allen plugs. Could that be a possible connection to a cooler ??

No, you can run the much simpler factory oil to coolant cooler. Here is a picture showing how it mounts on the 2UR engines. The stock filter mount will require machining to accept it, as Toyota left the cooler mount blank/unopened.

That would be nice to have it even if I don't tow much. Would this something that you would be able to install or you provide the parts only ?
Or, how about getting the mount that Toyota installs on the Tundra with the towing package ?

Thank you

Bypass valve prototype ready for testing.View attachment 1303454

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but buying the filter housing during the last group buy had me looking up the installation instructions, and ran across the bypass valve photo. @bjowett, did you ever product one that was shown on the left side of the photo to go along with the replacement housing? Just received the housing, looks to be a very well made part, thanks.

Mine arrived yesterday but gotta wait another 2,500 miles or so to try it out...
