My 73 numbers are FJ55 LG and FJ55 37629. Have no idea what those numbers mean......I think that it has original paint on it now. Pueblo Brown. Not to excited about that paint color though. Looks like a cross between poo and rust.......

How 'bout a pic of that?

I am about ready for the piggy to head to the paint shop. I have literally spent hours on here looking for stock Toyota paint codes. My truck is a 1973, so the paint codes are not on the plate in the engine compartment. I know that it was red and white. Production date is 7/73.

I first thought that my truck would have been Cygnus White (012) and Freeborn Red (309), but then I read somewhere that those weren't piggy colors. But then I read they were. So...I am confused.

Does anyone know, for sure, what the red/white color code combo is for a 7/73 FJ 55?

Heather, after I put on brown fenders from one pig, green hood from another and blue rear corners from Mark's pig then a couple of red/white doors + tailgate from yet another I decided to go with the sand/beige two tone........darn, mine before primer was looking "Calico" !!, guess if you can find underneath the POs Maaco paint job the colors on top of the original primer; a good place to look for original color would be underneath the front fender valance, inside of the gas cover/id plate or beneath the taillight buckets....red and cygnus white looks nice on a pig :)

My first selectin of what I thought were the right paint codes, yielded a wierd blue. I used the inside of my fuel door and just had them color match it.

Thanks Lou and Nat, I do have a few places where the original color remains, but it's faded. I was hoping to be able to match it with a paint code, but if not...then I'll just go with color matching.

Heather; you might try using a bit of rubbing compound on a sponge to bring out the color under the faded area; then take the part if you can remove it to a paint supply house where they can put a scanner on it and give you the correct composition.........call before you go to the supply house and make sure they have a working scanner...........hope this helps:cheers:

P.S. the child seat we got is a Jacadi........french made and has the highest EU reviews+safety scores, a bit more stringent than ours.................their opinion:idea:

Some where WAAAAaaayyyy down the road, I will most likely repaint ours the original color of Cygnus (012) White and Pueblo Brown (417)
One can dream right?

FWIW, My 74 didnt have the paint code on the plate, But im sure you have figured that out by now :)

I am a little confused about the Olympus white and the Cygnus white. When was the changeover?

What would a 1979 have?

Thanks.

Grease,

Here is a link to a previous thread re: the white change out date. Back then, I had mad skills (access to the BASF puters....call it the HAL 9000). It was 1978 when they switched the white from 012 to 031. https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj55-iron-...ty/135472-need-paint-codes-55-blue-white.html

I no longer have the mad skills (ability) to tap into the BASF HAL 9000....something I should try to regain I suppose.

Thanks, I got it figured out. It is definitely Cygnus.

What color green is on this Pig?
