I thought I would grow accustomed to it, but the reality is I am too big for a small truck. I am selling my 88 4RNR. This is a first Gen, which means the top comes off. All stock except wheels and tires and Corbeau seats. Timing chain, timing chain cover, water pump and oil pump were all replaced about 2,500 miles ago. 246K miles on the 22RE with 5 speed. Truck runs great has a couple dents that should pound out without much trouble. Tires are BFG AT with 9K miles on them mounted on Tundra 16" wheels. No rear bumper. Back window operates well. A little TLC and some paint and this will be a very sharp truck. Last offer I had was $5,500.00 in March.

We can order a sheet of whatever you wan tfrom Peak Steel. I need to order a sheet of 3/8" anyway.

Last time I did body work I had problems finding anything at my local Lowes. It seems that Home Depot uses he same supplier and thus, has the same stuff in stock. I ended up cutting up an old steelcase filing cabinet for patches.

I've looked for steel at Lowes and HD as well, not much to be had except for some small pieces that could be used for craft work.

On the subject of steel/metal, where is the best place in the Triangle to get a small mix of pieces? I need some square/rectangualr tube, sheet metal, 1/4" plate, 3/16" plate, and a few other odds and ends. but not a lot of any of it.

I stopped by Burke Brothers hardware on Hillsborough St. yesterday and they had a few different sizes of 16ga. sheet metal. The one for me was 4"X 12" (or close to that) which is perfect for the wheel well area I need to repair. I am going to go that route. @GLTHFJ60 knows of some places to get the other sizes/shapes.

I have been doing a study at work trying to determine some issues in our battery maintenance program or lack there of. To say the least I have a huge surplus of batteries that they had thrown away that I found out were easily recovered. These are the 6TAGM (made by the same people that make the oddesy and 6TMF (exide) batteries. Some of them only a year old. Not had as good as luck with the Yellow Top optima though but have a couple red tops that are not claimed as well. I should post a price but I didn't even think about this until I perused the old thread while looking to see who all was headed to the Expo in Ashland. Army pays 390 for the AGM's and about 160 when they used to buy the Exides. If anyone is interested let me know. Figured a good way to ship something to the old club cheaply and offset the cost of the cabin since the princess didn't want to sleep on site.

Shoot me an e-mail before 0900 EST tomorrow and I will throw one in for you. Again 88lbs a piece so I don't want to bring them if not necessary.

I'll make it easy on everyone as I realize the new forum and phone app don't work worth a......503.five four four....7threeone2 just shoot me a text. Looks like a I'll bring a few up. Don't know if anyone wants the old flooded but they are a cheap good option. Not sure what cheap is but cheapeer. Again these are used batteries but besides being drained all the way down and tested incorrectly there was nothing wrong with them. Most sat on the desulphator for awhile as well but some could use a few more days on one if you have one.

I haven't met up with anyone yet but dropping off a few batteries for folks tomorrow. I brought an extra 6TAGM ,one red top, 2 yellow tops (38 amp hour) and 2 extra flooded Exide 6TMF batteries. I know Jerry is coming back on a motorcycle but there may be other ways to get them back. Turns out over landing is a land rover thing. I don't think I've seen 10 land cruisers out of the hundreds of vehicles here. $75 for the big 6TAGM and 50 for the others. The flooeded batteries would make great reserve capacity storage batteries and the yellow tops are tiny and fit in small places.

Where are you set up at I'd be there now but am overheating 3 miles away which totally blow looks like I have a leak near my water pump hope its just the gasket will spend my afternoon tomorrow figuring that out so a battery might not be in my budget anymore

It's a gear that corrects for 285 size tires. They only have one gear available. (See link for more info.)

I upgraded to the "speedo conversion box" and put the stock gear back in. The box is what allows adjustability for various sized tires.

My 80 is on the Block

I am the 4th owner of the truck (including a flipper who owned it for a month in 2005). The truck was originally purchased at Toyota of Concord with all maintenance performed by the original owner at TOC. The PO bought it from the flipper in February of 2005 and I bought it this past February.

Why am I selling? I really love this truck, but another Cruiser crossed my path and desire (and a little automotive ADD kicked in) and I now have a new to me truck / project. I have to make physical and fiscal room, so the 80 has to go.

The truck is Red (Maroon) with Oak interior. The interior is in decent shape for the age. Carpet is good expect for under the second row seats. The truck was used as a kid hauler by the PO and there is gum and candy ground into the carpet under the middle row .. not noticeable until you flip the seats forward. The truck has manual seats. It left Japan with cloth seats and the dealer in Concord (where it was sold new) added leather. The front seats have typical wear with the driver's seat bottom cracked. Second row is in good to very good shape. Third row are impeccable (and in storage in 100 series 3rd row seat storage bags). The passenger rear door armrest / pull handle is cracked and the speaker grill will not stay in place (see pictures). The power windows are slow in the cold weather). AC Blows cold. I have some Cabelas seat covers on the front seats.

The truck has a single DIN Alpine head unit, speakers, sub-woofer amp, and sub-woofer installed by the PO. They work good, but the buttons are hard to read due to the combination of wear and my aging eyes.

The carfax showed no accidents when I bought it. All the body panels are OEM Toyota, but there are no VIN tags on them. I believe they are as original to the truck. The truck has not been painted (see below) and the paint is in good shape with a few scratches here and there. It shines up good.


The Good

• Complete records of maintenance by original owner
• Major maintenance records from prior owner
• PHH Bypassed already
• D light works (but the N does not!)
• Complete records from my ownership
• I have pretty well baselined the truck. Since February, the following has been done by either me or a tech I trust:
  • Engine oil and filter (OEM filter and Rotella Synthetic)
  • Transmission fluid and filter change
  • Transfer Case, and axle gear lube change
  • Air Filter
  • Antenna Mast
  • Cooling system flush and fill with Toyota Red
  • New OEM Thermostat
  • New Valve Cover Gasket and spark plug tube seals
  • New plugs and PCV valve and grommet
  • New OEM intake hose

The Not So Good:

• The OEM cigarette lighter socket sometimes does not work. I have traced it to the socket (see parts list)
• The cluster surround has some tabs broken off of it, but stays in place pretty good.
• The steering column plastic surround is loose.
• The passenger side rear door arm rest is cracked (see picture)
• Hail damage from the storm Memorial day Weekend.
  • The dents have all been repaired with paintless dent repair. The clear coat on the hood failed due to the storm damage and the hood and cowl have been refinished and blended into the fenders. Additionally, while they had it, I had them fix a gouge on the passenger rear flare (so the flare got painted too) and they painted the mirrors. Work was done by Young's Auto Body in Fort Mill.
  • I cannot tell that any damage occurred and the truck looks beautiful
• The rear main seal (I believe) weeps a little.

Uninstalled parts

The following uninstalled parts will be included in the sale

• Three oil filters, one air filter, one fuel filter, 100 series brake pads and a few other odds and ends.
• New upper and lower instrument panel bezels. New Dash vents, new cigarette lighter. I intended to replace the stereo and refurbish the dash at the same time with all new OEM parts.
• Slee AC receiver skid plate
• LandCruiserPhil front sway bar disconnects
• YodaTeq Mirror Mount light brackets and LED dually floods
• Thule (I think) load bars
• Land Rover Discovery cup holder for console
• Factory Service Manual and EWD

Upgrades:

• OME Heavy / Med lift installed by PO
• ARB winch bar installed by PO
• Bridgetone Revo 285s installed by PO - in the last year of his ownership, he went through a divorce and got slack on rotating the tires. The truck was his DD until the last few months of his ownership and the tires are a bit cupped and loud
• Warn M12000 - bought from an ONSC member, resealed by me and installed by me
• FourRunner (I think that's his MUD name) HD battery cables and primary ground wires installed by me
• LED interior lights (installed by PO)
• LED Backup Lights - installed by me
• Slee Step Sliders - installed by me
• Slee transfer skid - installed by me
• yodaTech rear antenna brackets - installed by me

anybody need a 14' trailer??

Its an old popup trailer frame I bought last year to deck it and haul stuff back home to LA with me when we were planning on moving back. I bought it for $300 and since then have replace the brakes (Master Cylinder, all hard and soft lines, and brake shoes/pads, wheel cylinders) I have also replaced the hubs to a stronger selection than the ones that were on there and put all new wheel bearings on it. I also put new brake and turn signals on it as the ones it came with were smashed and rewired it all to get them working again.

I have the title, although I have never put it in my name but would get that done and then transfer to whoever buys it.

rear of the frame does have some rust with a few holes that I was going to address. My plans for it after not moving was to beef up the frame and make an adventure style trailer on top of it.

I have since bought a popup camper trailer that Andrea found and decided she wanted (price was too good not to jump on) so this has to go as I don't have enough room in the garage for both.

This could be let go for very cheap as i'd rather someone have it that can use it than it go to the scrap yard.

It looks uneven in the picture just because it was sitting on jack stands unevenly.
