OK, I need some guidence here.

I have an FJ45 with skinny 32 inch tires and an aussie locker in the back. I have an 8274 on the front and I have quite a bit of off-road experience. I don't mind a little body damage.

What run or runs should I sign up for?

It just may be do-able...if you're a really good driver. Take off your running boards first. And your tail lights. and your side mirrors. If you ran it with almost nothing in the back, to keep the weight down. I ran the 'Con in a mostly stock '74 40, open diffs...but that was 25 years ago, and the trail gets a little tougher every year.
'78 FJ45? Long wheel-base? Maybe do the Wagon run, they're patient. Maybe follow the FJCs, they move a lot of rocks...Do not follow Mudrak.

Thanks guys.

I would be taking off the running boards and put on sliders. Should I bring my sledge hammer.

I am a rock whisperer and am good at cracking them.

Kevin, don't listen to them. If you are driving thousands of miles to wheel Rubicon you should do it with us for the entire week backwards and forwards, it really is the only way to have all the fun available :)

And yes I admit some peoples definition of fun is different than mine :)

This wlil be my first time at Rubicon and Rubithon. My 2nd rig was bought and built pretty much for this trip. :) How much backwards and forwards is tolerated? I don't really want to sit in camp for a few days, but if I could wheel, I'd probably go a day earlier than I would have otherwise.

Is there a minimum age for drivers? As long as the vehicle is insured, does the driver have to be licensed?

well i wasnt going to pollute this thread with chat but since it's here.... i'm a pretty remarkable driver :flipoff2: But i only have a rear locker. I assume i'll be fine with a rear locker, good skids, sliders, winch and great spotting... right?

Yes! With that and assuming its in sound mechanical condition, you should be fine. If you go with an orgainized run, your committee people will guide you, or at least warn you of where you don't want to be, for example, Old Sluice without an awesome rig and even better skill! You'll be fine

The legal answer, it is an unmaintained county road and all laws apply. Especially the drinking and driving laws!

That being said, there are many drivers on the road today that probably got their start on the trail. I would hope that someone wouldn't make the poor decision to let an underage (inexperienced) driver, do so in a spot that could be dangerous or with a high likelihood of damage, or chance of a roll over.

We certainly don't need anyone hurt!

We don't want people going backwards (toward Loon) after runs start coming in. As long as there isn't drinking and driving, the only day that doing a run up Cadillac to Observation would be discouraged would be Thursday, as we have a run coming in that day from there. Also, on Wednesday, I'd ask that you let the MOG crew have the right of way, as they are bringing in all our food and raffle prizes then.

Thanks for asking.

I don't know your schedule, but there may be some people going out back towards Loon, and maybe that will get your fix!

There was a fella named Ray that made Rubithon years ago in a beautiful FJ45, manual steering, small tires, and IIRC he only got 1 small dent to the corner of cab.
Come on along, you will be fine. Andy's wagon run would be a good choice and you are guaranteed food on that run.. Big Jim's Thurs morning run would be another suggestion, they always get to the springs by dinner time and are super good about helping you thru the trail.

As far as trail time, if you wanna wheel and get your fill take BK up on his offer.

Is the trail going to be closed to public on those days? Thanx, L.B.

Unfortunatly no. We just don't have the numbers that Jeepers has (YET!)

thats because anyone can buy a jeep and they still make them... but it takes someone with taste and class to buy a cruiser

After 2008 Hall of Fame Rubithon run, I thought about retiring my rig from serious 4wheeling, guess I will attend this 25th Anv Rubithon, truck is ready, just need one new tire. That's all!

Is the on-line registration working yet?

I still get the under construction page.
