So... Had a "code brown" moment in the Cruiser last night.

Our mailbox is opposite our driveway and perched at the top of a very steep embankment down to a stream bed, about a 10' drop. We have about 3' high snow banks on all the roads. I was pulling up to the mailbox which is an easy reach from the drivers window, but a few feet before the mailbox the drivers front tire suddenly plunged into the snow bank and the truck lurched to the left, heading for the ditch. Slammed on the brakes, stopped with the mailbox right in front of the headlight, inches away. Truck was literally teetering on the edge, like a few more inches and it was gonna flop over.

I sat there for a minute contemplating the situation, afraid to even take my foot off the brake. I seriously considered calling a tow truck, it was pretty scary.

Shifted to 4L, engaged CDL, then put it in R and turned on crawl control. Took my foot off the brake, it was like the truck was saying "I got this". It slowly crawled back from the edge of sure disaster.

Phew... It would really suck to roll my truck over right in front of my house.

Quick thinking

Spotted at Stevens Pass, WA yesterday. Plate was USG (Army). Still trying to figure out which market it's from. Pretty sure the badge said V8, so that would mean the 4.6L VDJ200. Some markets have the 4.0L V6 in the GXR.

I was stationed at Ft. Bliss (El Paso) last year and saw a handful of sup'd up Hiluxes in and around the area (all with DoD plates). I snapped my neck every time to get a better look. Damn, they are stout little trucks.

I read the iH8mud 200 series forum daily. I purchased a 2hundo last November, then ended up moving overseas. I have noticed as I have lurked and read your guys threads that there are numerous military and former military guys. Just curious as to where y’all work and what you do. I’ll start, I am Army (Inf) stationed in Italy.

Army as well. I initially enlisted as a combat engineer, then commissioned infantry. I'm currently at Bragg. @Chip503 you lucked out with that duty location; did you take the 200 to Europe?

Whew! So glad that ended well!

I often forget I even have Crawl...but, man it really does work.

Great story, and definitely a code brown!

Yonah,
This is my second go around here. I was a PSG, 1SG here then left went to Bliss and am now back as a CSM. I am probably the luckiest guy in the world in being able to come back and be the CSM of my former BN.
We unfortunately did not bring my LC over here. We brought my wife’s Highlander (easier on gas, which is expensive here). The fact that my beloved cruiser is not here has me reading everything I can, just about everyday in order to fulfill my addiction. The wife thinks I have hit my head to hard on a jump.o_O

Does anyone else have an intermittent backup camera, if so what did you do to fix it?

Dash lit up like xmas this morning about a mile into drive. Temp was 10 degrees F and all of a sudden I got a solid check engine icon, check VSC message, flashing 4LO, and solid triangle alert icon. I had to park it and run to catch my commuter bus but any ideas what might be the cause?

Multiple lights going off are a code within themselves, best is to get an OBDII reader or maybe someone will chime in who's experienced that same light configuration.

I will say that a solid CEL is not something that's going to cause immediate failures, a flashing CEL, yeah... that is a "stop now, for the love of god" warning light. Last time I had a flashing CEL, I had my 2nd and 4th cylinders filled with river water.

No idea. But a $10 Bluetooth obd reader and the Torque app are extremely valuable. Everyone should have both. For less than $15 you can view every sensor in real time and scan/read/clear codes on the fly.

AGREE!! Love mine.

But I was disappointed that I can't get Torque to display real-time of the current transmission gear number. I can do this in my wife's '13 Lexus.

Well, I do have a reader but its at home, I'm at work, and the truck is at the bus station so I'm mostly concerned about whether I can get it home or will need to have it dropped at the shop.

Which app exactly is this? Can you post the developers name or Icon image? I enter "Torque App" in the search and the highest rated one is; OBD Fusion for $9.99. Is this the one? I am looking for Apple apps.

Thx

which one is better Dashcommand or obd fusion

For anyone curious. If you have the dreaded evap codes on your 200, it'll still pass emissions no problem (assuming you've cleared the code prior to showing up to the emissions spot). Just had my 200 renewed with a 2019 sticker, no issues besides the guy complaining about my LED lights in my bumper. Utah did away with safety inspections for 2018 so it's all gravy.

My codes seam.like they pop up every other day now.
The last couple fill ups have taken forever, having to pump slowly so the handle doesn't shut off.
