I have 35's on the 40 and noticed that my milage reading from home to work said 20 miles when in reality it should read 11 miles. No wonder I went from 67k to 100,011 in two years of weekend driving. What can I do to fix this?

What gearing are you running in the axles?

I have a stock rear end, eaton posi with 4.11 gears.

Something is up somewhere then. I thought you might be running some low geared axles or something. Is this the stock 'Cruiser transfer case? If so you should be reading LESS miles travelled when running 35's not more.

Stock setup is 29" tires and 4:11 axles which should give close to exact mileage. Bigger tires should show less and lower gearing should show more.

35's with the stock rear end and the right speedo gear should show less mileage than the factory stock tire because of the increase in diameter of the 35" tire. For each revolution of the drive shaft you go a longer linear distance than with the H78-15 stock tire. You know, the circumference equals pi times the diameter. If in fact you have the stock rear end, then I would look at the speedo gear or the instrument cluster. The larger the tire the fewer the miles shown on the total mileage displayed on the instrument cluster. You can have a shop that calibrates speedometers put a gearing adapter on the speedo gear to more accurately display your mileage. You could put in an electronic speedometer that can be setup for any tire you want to run. In addition, you should be exceeding the speed limit if you use the speedometer as your guide. And the faster you go the more you are exceeding the speed limit. Are you sure that you have the factory tranny and transfer case?

I have a muncie 465 tranny stock transfer case and 4.11 rear end.
Are there gears where the speedo cable goes into the xfer case?

Yes... you can get replacment gears but not sure if the ones available would correct your issue. I just ordered an OEM one to correct to 33" tires with 4.11 gearing...

I doubt there are any gears available from Toyota that will correct that much variation. You're talking nearly 50%!!

Math much? More like 20....stock tires are 27" tall.

20 miles vs. 11 miles seems awful close to 50% or 200% (depending on how you want to look at it) to me!!!

Just as mentioned above your actual speed should be more than that showing since you went to taller tires.
If everything is kept the same , and you changed tires to different size.
Actual speed= The speed showing * new tire diameter / original tire diameter ,
Are sure you reading miles and not kilometers.
Because you are saying you are reading 20m where you should be reading only 11m , that is almost double, seems a lot to me.
While the change factor is only something like 1.2.
