You people are crazy. I made it chime MORE, like when I leave the headlights on. That's saved my batteries a few times...

hmmmmm.... i don't have a single chime/ding in my 80! no sunroof, no nothing.

Neither of my trucks chime/ding when the sunroof is open, regardless of position.

Mine shut off automagically when I open the door after removing the key.

I need a zombie-return-of-the-living-dead smiley face for these threads that come back after being dormant for soooo many years. Nice to know that I can axe that buzzer though if needed. =)

maybe it's because my alarm system is no longer present?

Both mine have the standard RS3000 alarm. :meh:

When CJF rode with me it really tripped him out.

Finally got around to doing this mod today :grinpimp:

The buzzer box was a bit more well hidden than I had thought (had to remove the headlamp module and transmission controller box to get to it), but I still managed to get it done in about 20 minutes

Now I can finally watch DVD's with the doors open and not hear that stupid buzzer ;p

Disabled the buzzer this way on my 93 today. Been wanting too for years. Did this to my 1983 Subaru Thanksgiving weekend 1992 (that's how memorable it was) so fitting to continue the holiday tradition. I had the dash all apart for an electrical gremlin anyway. Thanks for this post!

LMAO, love these zombie threads.

Of course, now I have to go check for buzzes and chimes....kind of like an Airplane movie, Roger?

I couldn't even see it buried under all the other modules. I guess I'll take them out as you did because I really need to do disable the buzzer! I've tied all my door switches together so all the lights come on along with the buzzer no matter what door you open.

I decided to remove the chime on my 91. I found the offending box in the drivers side kick panel it says seatbelt warning on it. This box is the source of my chime but it is different than these blue ones. I opened it but cannot remove the circuit board to cut the speaker wire. Does anyone know if I can just cut a wire going into the box or will that cause other issues. I am an electrical noob. Here are some pics, thanks

Never mind I was able to lightly tap the box on the counter and the circuit board slowly worked its way out. It was basically pressure fit in there.
Also this was super easy to access, I didn't have to move anything to access it, just remove the kick panel and unbolt.

Damn, all i have is key in ignition and door open. I HATE chimes, but appreciate the key buzzer. Course, that only works when it wants to, or i jiggle the pressure switch on my door. Heehee!
