How do I know if my 95 is OBD I or OBD II? Can I tell from the VIN or build date?

Look under the dash under the fuse cover.

Above the fuse box there should be a Hexagonal plug, if there is you're OBD II. I also have a 95 and although it was not manditory to switch till 96, Mr. T voluntarily did in 95 (don't ask me why.)

Hope this helps

Shane

Look for the OBDII connector under the fuse panel cover by the drivers left knee.

HTH

If it's an inch or so long black horizontal plug directly above the fuse panel on the dash below and to the left of the steering wheel, then it's there. Do OBD I LCs have a different plug or nothing at all? I heard some 95s were and some weren't. Was it random or are they all OBD II after a certain date? By the way my build date is 5/95.

It also will say as much on the VECI label under the hood. Mine's a 4/95 and it's OBDII.

Lots of threads on this. Search is your friend!

My 12/94 is OBD-II...

I'm not sure I have ever heard of somebody saying their 95 wasn't OBDII. Given Rob G's early build date with OBDII, I'm going to guess they're all OBDII.

From what I know, 1/95 on are obdII.

I've bought a scangauge II, (accidentyly) before I checked to see if my car had it, as the head was being repaired in a workshop.

Its a sep/96 build and from what I have read they all are in 96 year.

Why can't I find the OBDII connector?

Please help!!!!!

I just can't find it at the fuse panel, is it because I'm right had drive? and I should look the other side??

if it's RHD, it's likely not US and therefore may not have an OBDII?

Why would that be, there are plenty of vehicles that have OBDII connectors.

How can I find out for sure. I do remember reading somewhere on here about this is what an obd 1 port and here is the obdII port.

But do you think I can find it

Because OBDII is a US (EPA?) standard, AFAIK. It is likely other jurisdictions/nations have another standard which they use.

We definitely have OBDII ports in Australia

I'm sure there must be some OBDs outside of the USA but I thought it might be possible that they may have become standard at later dates in some other places.

Are OBDs an official part of some sort of smog or tech inspection in Oz?
