How much do you think it saved you on some of these parts to rebuild and refinish vs buy new? It is definitely better to have the OEM stuff vs a Chinese knockoff aftermarket part. You have really a great talent for it. It could be yet another side buisiness when the 40 is done to breath life back into old parts.

Thanks, Andy. Not sure on cost/time, but from what I've seen on the used market, some of this stuff is tremendously valuable when done correctly.

I certainly enjoy the restoration no matter what though.

I spent a fortune at the cad platers. If I ever venture into another 40 restoration, I am certainly going to look into investing into an at-home plating setup.

I can do zinc playing already; I can't imagine cad/chromate being too much more work.

My understanding is that the yellow chromate is just one additional step; dip the zinc in the chromate, allow to dry for a few hours, and spray off residue. Pretty nasty chemicals, but that's what gloves and respirators are for.

Still trying to source an oven for PC'ing.

You can have mine if you feel like you need one. It's useless...

Beautiful work, I bet it's really rewarding to finally see the hard work paying off. Hard to tell on my screen - the PC, flat black or semi gloss?

Thank you.

PC is semi gloss. (20% gloss for those wondering)

Lou, I wouldn't think you'd want a canister for a V8.....certainly wouldn't need one
