Instead of swapping bases, can you just machine the 40 base down to get it to sit level on the 55 fender?

I tried to cut mine down, but the bases are made different, other than just the angle. The locating pin is in a different spot, which you could cut off. Somebody with skills could make it work.

Scrapdaddy has the answer, i was looking to see if you could cut down the base as well, seems like the fj40 base is shorter on one end (by very little) also, as he mentioned the guide pin is in a different spot. I will probably play with mine (i have nothing to loose trying) If i can get it to work, it'll certainly look better than the original one i have.

Will be quite some time before i mess with that though (2016'ish)

Looks like I will have all new lights in a stash, going to order those and rear side marker lights tomorrow. And dream of the day of when I can actually use them...

I think Nuclearlemon had some done a few years back. I was gifted a pair to use on mine. They didn't have the locating pin molded on them and you still have to paint them, as they were white. I'm not sure if any are still floating around.

Does anyone have a picture of the rear of the rocker where it meets the door jam (with the door open) Since mine was pretty much gone, and my other side is nearly completely gone as well, i have nothing to go off of while rebuilding mine. Also if someone can get a inside picture of there rear wheel well aimed towards the rocker.

Is this what you need?

Yes, thank you tatat! Thank you!

The inside wheel well portion, do all FJ55 look like this? Or was yours modified?

the part inside the door opening is stock. The last picture of the 3 I send you is an "improvement"..

Well got some work done tonight. Didn't get any pictures other than my current work area...

Wish I had a bigger shop and more tools (who doesnt). However I did get my kick panel area patched up (wish I could weld better to reduce my grinding time...) and everything trimmed up so I can put my floor back in the driver side. Hopefully I can get the floor in tomorrow.

Was planning on using this. Think it will work fine. Or should I just stick with por15?

Started picking up some random supplies for when i start cutting. This is what my painter buddy told me to use for an internal frame coating. Says it works well. Its a sherwin williams product and has a 360 degree spray tip with a fairly long wand. should work well inside the rockers and some other areas.

I would use both, epoxy coat everything that is accessible before you weld closed then spray the wax sealer in all the nooks and crannies after you finish weld.

I agree with this, multi layers will help seal it all up. She's looking good!

Some pictures from today's work. Didn't get the floor board in due to por15 the insides that I can get to. Also did some finish up work on the floor board to make everything 100% ready to go I tomorrow night.

Then came some por15

So tomorrow will be a quick spray of some weld through primer, then the floor board gets tacked in. Will have to remember to take it nice and slow so I don't warp anything. Once it's in the rest of the way I'll close off the open area of the front floor support (since I cut too much out I want to see how far I need to go to make it look like the factory side.)

Once I get that done. On the the rear body mount and floor support. Rear body mount is going to be interesting because of the limited space. Should be fun!

Back hard at it today! Was a very productive day (put about 4 hours into her).

Picture of my slow work. Doing half inch passes around the seam.

While waiting for the metal to cool down i decided to tackle the rear floor support.

Learned something new, that i didnt notice the first go around with BobM's supports. The out sides are made like a sleeve! Makes everything stronger and easier to line up!

Top tacked and welded in, rocker side welded on.

fully welded, ready for a TON of grinding. (minus the front, didnt get a picture of that patch portion.)

And ground down, I got in a hurry in a few spots and it warped the metal, Im not to concerned as when i coat the floor it wont be noticeable.

Looking at the passenger kick area, thinking "why in the hell didnt i start with this side!"
