I'll try to get a picture over this evening.

BaT updated the listing. Much appreciation. Should have started here a long time ago.

Better late than never.

Wow....what happened pretty much never happens....nice :)

sounds like it runs well

@FJ40Jim if it is a Nov 68' that would have made it a 1969 title if it were a USA truck right? so technically you would be correct??

this one 63769 11/68, 12/68 numbers 63779, this one falls solid 68 manufacture date, 1/69 numbers 64779 I have 64770 1/69 titled as a 69. But in US the truck titles when sold so if it sells in 69 it titles as a 69. So if it takes a slow boat and arrives in the US it would more than likely title as a 69

You would think ... But... There are others that were built late 68 and sold as 68'... In the registry there is another built 12/68 and is also registered 68 :meh: others are on mud here and there... But not all there are, at least 2 that I found were late 68 build and sold as 69' ... Poser being one of them

We noticed this discrepancy in 74' had a long production run as well as 78'... however 68' wasn't a long production run at all like that of 74 & 78.

there are other inconsistent build/model times as well some years in later years... which is odd... in earlier years it was common place to find a 'last years' trucks being sold as new however... or even a few years old being sold as new.

A big contributing factor to the big discrepancy for the late 68' was because in late 68 was a large longshoremen strike that cost millions per day. This affected the whole gulf ports and atlantic ports... east coast was a short strike. It is noted several places that automobile manufacturers vw, Toyota, Nissan and triumph were greatly affected. From reading thru Toyota stuff Toyota was pulling trucks from the east to satisfy orders already placed.

The strike went on for several months starting late september 68' till the start of the new year 69'. The only thing they were unloading/loading was for military.

kinda funny these longshoreman guys ... from NY stike lasted a lil over a month i think:

True dat!

@salzinger2 , the date code and serial # is stamped on a pad on the pass side of the T-case housing.
Some pics of location & deciphering are in this thread.

Hello,

Front lights and spare wheel carrier give it away as a 1968.

Pretty much everything has been either replaced or made to fit with parts from later models: steering wheel, dash pads, side doors, back doors, seats...

I would check transmission and transfer for modifications. Quite likely the Colombians fabricated mountings and pieces to make then fit to the frame. And probably more.

The front left fender appears to have been replaced with a homemade unit.

The air filter seems to come from a V8 engine.

Wiring is quite likely a mess.

As JohnnyC wrote, the list goes on.

Well as I'm sure some of you watched. It didn't sell on BaT.

It's a little disappointing, considering I turned to a place like them for expertise of classic vehicles. Glad everyone here could contribute to give me a better understanding of what I'm working with.

If anyone has any recommendations on places to list the car or potential buyers, please reach out. I had the reserve set at $12,000. Aside from the mismatched chassis & body, I have put approximately $10,000 in repairs & modifications over the last 6 months.

Now that you know what you have ... Realist it ... Put up on mud ... Ir ebay

Basically you have a 68' with some 'upgrades' That is smog exempt in CA

To be perfectly honest I don't know how much more you will get ... Restorations with the intent to sell don't normally fare well for the seller ... To many it's a hobby that sometimes you break even on

Definitely understandable. Appreciate the advice.

At this stage of the selling game your best bet is to listed it on ebay and Craigslist, ebay will give you the most exposure. Cars & Trucks in Make:Toyota, Model:Land Cruiser | eBay

Good luck with the sale!
