I was driving the 80 today in town and my power steering just stops working:bang:.

I checked the fluid level and it was good. There are no leaks or whining noises coming from the power steering pump. Possible power steering pump failer?

Strong arming an 80 is not that fun.

Any recomendations.

Thanks,
Vince

Sorry to hear this Vince. Have you been giving the 40 too much love lately? 80 sounds like it is acting up a lot.

When you addressed your front end leak did something get put on wrong or pinched?

Try strong arming it on the trail!!!

I think the Shaman is at work here. Did you purchase something from NAPA lately?

:whoops: I just got some stuff for the 40 from Spector Offroad.

Is the belt slipping, gone? I don't know what the belts look like on that engine and what else gets driven by that belt.

Dan and Robbie pointed out that if the crank bolt is loose the PS pump and oil pump will not work very well. The mechanic that worked on the truck will address this issue tomorrow.

I would like to also thank Dan and Robbie for help on this problem.

Thanks,
Vince

No power steering is bad, but no oil being pumped is worse...

PS on the 1FZ is gear driven, not belt driven.

What kind of screwy system is that? The next thing you're probably going to tell me is that it uses belts to drive the camshaft and no pushrods for the valves. What is this world coming to?

Both camshafts are chain driven on the 1FZ-FE engine.

I give up.

I know this is futile,

but one camshaft is chain driven, the other is camshaft driven

Did you mean to say that one camshaft is chain driven and the other is gear driven from the chain driven camshaft? :flipoff2:

I'll add my two cents to this ... :bang:

Like it matters..

and a plastic radiator too.....

Every thing has been tighted up correctly and everything is working as it should. Big thanks to Dan for helping me trouble shoot the problem.

Thanks,
Vince

Good to know it wasn't a problem with the drive belt, timing belt or pushrods.
