Hello all, I'm new to the group. I just bought this beauty about a month ago and have had a nagging "buyers remorse". I live in the San Francisco Bay area and am a long way (as far as FJ62 MPGs are concerned) from decent offroad trails. I just installed new OME springs and shocks and am very pleased with the ride quality now. I just took it offroad for the first time last weekend up in the Sierra's to the Fordyce Creek area and am blown away with the offroad capability! I have no more "buyers remorse"!

I discovered this forum a couple of weeks after I bought the truck and have learned a lot since then. Many thanks to you all!

Very nice! FJ62 + lift + winch + locker + sliders + 33s = nice set-up

And they said I didn't pay attention in math class!

Nice rig and welcome aboard! I just joined last month and have no idea what took me so long. I was born with a Cruiser in the family and learned how to drive in one and now I am on my second one (sold the 40 to build a 60). This is a great site with great people and wealth of information.

R U Serious ??? Don't worry, get out and drive *her*. The reason for the remorse is not understanding the *full* potential of these trucks !!! Once you start ... you will fall head over heels ???

Enjoy and welcome to the board !

Plus, she's a RED ! :D

I like red 62'd, don't see alot of them

Nice truck, Dub. Welcome. How bout some more pics? I would like to see that front bumper in more detail.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I guess I was a little understated when I said that I do not have any more buyers remorse. After wheeling it up in the mountains over the weekend, I am absolutely in love with the rig. It was love at first climb.

My original feelings were like "what the heck did I get myself into"?! The thing leaks some oil, is underpowered, geared too high and under braked and has 262,000 miles on it. Well, that was before I put it in low range and locked the hubs and drove it up into the railroad snow sheds (on the abandoned rail bed) above Donner Lake.

Here is a pic of the front bumper as requested and one of the interior. The PO had the front bumper welded to the frame (as well as the rock sliders), he put the no-slip locking diff in and the rear bumper which is a Kaymar that is bolted to the frame with about 34 bolts. The 12 K winch is a bit of overkill I think and weighs a lot. I wouldn't mind replacing it with a smaller, lighter unit. He also put in an all new radiator, water pump, all belts and hoses. Anyway, I paid $6,500 for it , hence the original buyers remorse. But, the rig is in exceptional condition, everything works, no rust at all, the interior is all original and beautiful and it has $800 of rubber on it, 33x9.5 Wild Country TXRs that were siped (including the full size spare). The motor runs very smooth also.

Don't worry, the buyer's remorse should come back before too long...I don't know anyone who owns a 60/62 that doesn't have a weird love/hate dynamic going on with their rig (and it's about 70% love, 30% )

Swank, FWIW I am one 62 owner that has a 100% affection for my truck. It has never let me down and it has always been as dependable as one could hope for. Have owned it since January of '99. Knocking on wood now. JDUB, I hope you have the same experience, but, respool that winch cable! ;)

keep the 12K Warn, a 62 is a heavy SOB even unloaded. a 10K wieghts the same about 120lbs, a 9000ish is about 90lbs. M8000 is lighter but not enough winch for a 62 IMOP.

BTW the 60/2 red is not freeborn red........I don't think.
