What year? I have one out of a 71. Don't remember what kind of shape it is in though. Don't remember any real bad stuff. I'll dig it out this evening when we get home to see. If you are interested PM me.

Unfortunately, the '71 wheel would be different, unless it had been switched out with an earlier wheel. :frown:

Steering wheel changed when Toyota went away from the steering gear being integral to the steering column, 08/72.

Then in 8/72 (73 model year) the wheel designed change with the steering box change in the FJ40s.

Echo?

Which also coincided with the ignition switch being moved from the dash to the steering column, along with the headlamp dimmer switch being moved from the floor to a combination turn signal/dimmer switch on the column as well.

I agree with all that Steve my point was that a 7/69 or later was not going to work on a 66 or 67 because of the different spline count. Even if you got the complete steering box it wouldn't work since the 67 model and earlier mounted different to the frame. I guess you could rebuild the newer shaft into the older box if they are the same. That just seems like alot of work:cheers:

Steering Wheel

[QUOTE I am an attorney here in Phoenix, so it would be pretty hard for me to con anyone. :p

:lol:You are leaving yourself pretty wide open with that one aren't you?

You know I have ssen a few restos that deserve a wheel like that on here, sadly not mine though.

wow good thread so if someone had a bunch of those old steering wheels hanging in a garage for years they could be worth some coin.military guys fix the cracks and restore the steering wheels their is an article in wheels and tracks and several car mags on how to do this good luck

$900 a wheel? Is that Nigerian dollars or Somalian?

Anybody work with molds/platics? I'm giving it serious thought for some 55 rubber. I figure it to be 1/2 the price (counting labor).
