In boarding them on the axle, stock frame locations. The perches can be narrower then the springs? That's ok? I was about to weld 1/4" strap to both sides of each perch to widen them

Loaded up a whack of junk and made it out to petes by 8:00 last night. Dan met up with us and we managed to wrestle the axle under the 40. Everything fit good but we had to ream out the ladder bar mount holes a little to get em to line up, no biggie.

39.5s are only on the back only now since i couldnt fit the other two tires in the dodge. And yup shes a little wider lol.

May have to move the brake line tabs around a little but she seems to fit good, even filled the mofo with oil and bled the brakes before i left.

Yeah matt thats not a problem. Mine are 1/8" wider than the pearches on each side and i doubt thatll make any difference whatsoever, i wouldnt bother making them wider man.

Thanks for the tip, check out my thread some time and make sure I don't fawk up too bad :)

Well, were planning to hit the 40 hard this coming monday. Ive been pecking away at the little odds and ends here and there but my buddy Pete whos wiring it has been working out of town most of the summer so the lectrical has been going slowly.

But the end is almost in sight. Ignition wires are run from the 60 column to the 40 pin and just need to be pinned into the right holes on both sides of the firewall. All the lighting wiring has been run to the engine side of the firewall but pete still has to do some resistor diode relay magic under the dash for the 4 ways, signals and the stocker light switches im using for the aux lights.

So the plan on monday is to run the rest of the column wiring (wipers lights washer signals etc) under the dash to the 40 pin, extend the wires from the sunfire fuse box and bolt that back in, then try and remember how to run the wires from the th carb/dizzy/ coil lol.

If we can get the ignition junk sorted Danny and i can work on throwin the tank back in, priming the lines, getting her running and putting the timing light to it while pete deals with lights and signals.

I know im being way too ambitious and i bet that only 1/8th of the planned work will get done but maybe just maybe we can put some kind of dent in er... Id love to drive it a bit before the snow flies then ill be satisfied with just staring at it and caressing it for however long this coming winter lasts.

Took a rip out to Petes yesterday and broke into his garage while hes diddling beavers in mooseuterus saskatchemawan for the week and threw the pretty hub dials on. Put some proper compression clamps at both ends of the vac advance hose, threw in a new air filter and put on the little gasket i made to go between the top of the trollhole carb spacer and the air box.

Also took the time to take the die grinder to the brake line tabs on the 80 axle. They were a little colse to the shock bodies but should clear nicely now.

Come on monday!

Technically it drove last fall lol but not like alive alive lol. Plan is to see how far we can get tomorrow. Crossin my fingers man but any progress is good progress.

Ill probably be posting up a whack of stupid questions ive forgotten the answers to all day long. ....

D

Well she starts with the key now! Still have to time it but it runs again so thats cool.

We got the rest of the column wiring extended, just has to be threaded under the dash and the light/relay/diode wizardry is almost done. Gas tank got drained and filled w super and fuel lines were primed prior to cranking. Also got the oil and filter changed.

T case flange nuts got torqued and staked, door hinges at the firewall got tightened...... bunch of other random junk ive been putting off also got messed with.

Gonna hit it again tomorrow and see what else we can get done, crossin my fingers i can take er for a rip soon man.

Big thanks to Danny and Pete for the help!

Time to quit your job and start looking for some galleries to sell your sculptures man!

P

Yea right lol.

D

What what be sweet is if you had red LEDs in the eyes that went on with the brake lights

Lol yeah. Wanna keep it moveable tho, just stuck it there for kicks.
