Jay, thanks for the offer, but I have 3 teenagers coming over Saturday Morning to help. Should be a 5 minute job.

Marshall, I will search for a number on the carb as soon as I start diassembling the other side of the engine bay, which should be tonight.

I have an original starter & solenoid on its merry way from Southern California, along with a new Clutch Master and some suspension goodies.

Discovered that new boots for the Knuckles don't exist, so the plan is to patch up the old ones like you would a bike tire. On the boot that has a rip rather than a hole, I plan on using a suture kit to first stitch it up, then apply the patch. (Slime makes a nice 56 piece patch kit). I figure if those patches can hold 110 psi, they can hold back grease at very little pressure. We will see.

There is a guy in Mint Hill, NC, who is the national guru on Coronas (the car, not the beer), which share the 3R engine (1.9 liters of fun) and I am buying some bling for the engine from him (read here decals).

Knuckle boots? I'm interested in seeing what that looks like.

Also I'd be willing to give you some new bolts for the carb. Pretty sure I have stuff for that.

Reassembly begins

Missed the parts swap as I was waiting on 3 high schoolers Saturday morning to help lift the bed bac into place.. Bed, bumper, tailgate all back in place ...

And the result

Engine compartment cleanup, halfway mark. Took out starter (replace), radiator, alternator, etc.

Here is a pic of what I called the knuckle boot. It is probably called an upper control arm boot. Whatever it is, it's ripped and I can't find anew one. Perhaps if I knew what to call it, I could find one.

Where did you steal this picture from David, cause I know this ain't your garage, it's too dirty!

Was that the stock bumper? That thing is a beast, looks good though.

Ball Joint?

Chuck - - yep, that was my garage after working all day yesterday. It's a bit messy (and crowded), but I've got a bunch of little projects going on to get the Stout road worthy.

Yes, that is the stock bumper. It was an option in 67, and someone welded on extensions to protect the rear quarters. I repainted it Cruiser Grey as an omage (sp?) to the TLC.

Wheels and Tires need a new home

Just replaced the wheels and tires with OEM rims and nearly correct tires. So, I have 4 chrome wheels (10 hole) with 4 nearly new Dayton Timberline ATs, 215/70 r15. I'm guessing they may have 1000 or less on them based on info from the PO.

No reasonable offer refused. You pick up in Weaverville, nc. May even consider a trade for a set of chrome hubcaps for a 45 (jp?)

Post pics on how the rims turned out they were pretty rough

Powder coated stock rims installed

Thanks Eric, your rims have found a good home. While they look puny compared to the aftermarket the PO installed, it's the largest tire that would fit on the stock rims. Found the stock height of the truck, 1.67 meters, and the truck is dead on stock after 45 years.

Replaced front shocks with some massive Monroe's, had to drimmel around the lower opening to get them in. .... But they are in! Finished up wire wheeling the engine compartment 10 minutes ago, so I'm just about at the midway point, time to reinstall my refurbed parts and some new old stock to boot.

Reassenbly has begun

putting it all back together now . . . sort of turned the corner on the project. Looking for a source for a braided fuel line, for the line between the fuel filter and fuel pump, banjo joints on each end.

Very nice David. Have you checked Summit? They have stainless fuel line but I'm willing to bet they have the black braided as well. Try finding Earls Pro-lite 350. In -6 an. It's not cheap but will last a life time.

Thanks, Marshal. That info helps!

David if ya gotta have black braded line Motor cycle vendors, carry the black chrome stanless braded lines. I'm not sure but the last time I checked I dont think Summit had the black chrome lines. J & B Cycles does unless things have changed that's where I got the black chrome braded lines on the Indian. Gone for now. :)

Thanks Doc! I'm in the market for either, as the line right now looks ratty - - the asbestos cover (if that's what it is) is barely hanging on.

Oil Pan Gasket

Removed the Oil Pan gasket and have a brand new OEM one from Toyota. Nice, thick cork! Marshal says to lightly apply a schmere of RTV. My question is to both sides or one, and red, blue, or black RTV?

Here is a pic of the original cork gasket (circa 1967) I took off.

You can also use some fine threard through the bolt holes to hold the gasket in place while bolting it in if you don't want to see any RTV remnants. That is what Steve and I did on his LV resto as it is a little cleaner look

BTW you are doing a great job David, keep up the good work!!
