First off just wanted to say this is a great forum!
Anyway I'm looking at a 96 lx450 171k miles
Good: it has lockers and is in perfect cosmetic condition (no lie)
All leather is perfect no rips or creases.
Overall very clean ride owner for past 10 years.
Bad: temp sensor failed, but has replacement just not installed.
Check engine for Cat Converters ( o2 sensors?) sometimes.
He's wanting 6k I offered 5k he has someone offering 5.5k and
said he would sell to me for $5750. Just want to know if this a
good deal or not? Mileage is high and I don't think HG has been
done. This is what worries me about the truck. So should I buy it
or pass. The lx 450 is in the southeast if that makes any difference?

Offer 5K. 5750 still a good price!

Already tried he said no that he had an offer for 5.5k, SO pass or buy?

Buy, if not, I'll get on an airplane and get it :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Buy it!

Good price looking at the photos you posted. If has lockers worth ~8,000
Geologic
PM me if you don't want it and it has lockers!

If you like the truck, feel good about it, and has a good maintenance record, I'd go ahead and give him his asking price ($5750), especially if it does have the lockers. (Rotary knob to the left of the steering wheel or the axle type code of "K294".

Good luck!

Definitely buy. I looked at many 95-97 LCs in much worse shape with no records for $5-7k range. I can't believe how good that driver's seat looks! At $5750 I think it is still a good buy. I would show up with $5500 cash and tell him you will take it. Bring an extra $250 in case he really won't move and up him slowly.
Keep in mind you will still have some items to likely take care of like the front axle seals and oil pan gaskets, and most fluids, unless you know that has been done?

First off welcome! :flipoff2:
From the pictures that looks to be a great find for the price and if the vehicle is from the Southeast it should have a minimal amount of rust.

I paid $12K for an LX450 with lockers about two years ago (had 120K miles on it).

I still owe 8K on it and your potential truck looks to be in better shape than mine.

I still feel that I got a truck that is work the money. For what it's worth, you're in a better position than I.

I'd say go get it!

I offered the $5750 so if it has not sold it will be mine this weekend.
Also asked him to send me a picture of the diff lock switch, he said
it was there and has never used it in a previous email. So I guess it will need some exercising. Thanks for all the help in making my decision.

Well I picked it up today! Drove great the 4 hours home with the AC on 65. This thing is clean clean clean! The underbody is still black, not discolored at all! He said he has never used lo-range or the lockers. Tried them when I got home, front locked no problem back is flashing. Didn't have a chance to do circles in the yard to try and get it to lock in the rear, but I'll do that Sunday. Everything looks good so far, I'll let you know if I get the rear locked or not.

Welcome!!!!:flipoff2:

What if I offer $6,000.00??? If you haven't got it by now, it will be gone SOON!

PS Bienvenido = Welcome from Puerto Rico!!!

Wow. Dang good buy. When I got mine a few months ago it had been a road truck like yours. The front locked right away, the rear has taken a good bit of exercising to get to the point of locking quickly.

Thanks all. I'm glad I went and bought it. Nicer than I was wanting for offroad duty, but so was my old Rubicon and that didn't stop me from using it at URE and other places. I'm going try to get the rear locker engaged now.

Rear locker works fine now. Didn't even have to figure eight, just a slight turn to the left and it went in.

No fair! You didnt even have to struggle with your rear locker! lol j/k

 happy trails.
