got a chance to blast around in some sand this past weekend when we went paddling, man it sounds nice all wound up... and i checked to make sure the rev limiter worked... over and over again :)

also, got my AC lines in from www.rayeveritt.com ray did a really nice job, the lines look great and bolted right up. if you need some, email him and chat with him. tell him that he did Marco Capotes lines for the 5.3 cruiser swap and he'll know what you need.

didn't take any, but i will tonight.

nice looking A/C hoses. I'll be talking to the guy to make some for my 98 vortec 5.7 swap. The stock A/C works pretty good on my LC now. Hopefully once the swap is over I can get the A/C back to freeze @ss mode.

man, after seeing Elberts truck i had to clean mine up. here are a fw shots of the swap done and how it sits. not really on level ground, but you get the idea. Still wrestling with the o2 sensor crapola... gotta get it sorted before making the move to Co at the end of the month.

Not sure what your O2 sensor problems are, but these can be quite handy:

I am just running the two fronts. I got more info from FIS yesterday via fax, so I am gonna do more digging possibly this weekend...

here are a few more shots of the ac hoses. hard to see, but they got kinda buried...

i was running 134a in the old setup.

ok, just got out to colorado yesterday. made the drive from memphis in about 16 and a half hours pulling a 6x12 uhaul that in total with th estuff in it weighted 4000+ #'s. figured you guys might be interested in some fuel economy numbers. towing at 70mph in 4th i got 13mpg, and towing at 80 in 5th i got 10-11 mpg.

Also put amsoil in the tranny, transfercase, and rearend before the trip. It shifts a lot nicer and has wayyy less gear whine with that synthetic.

not bad.

now i get to take it to the hills.

yep. i think i have it figured out though... take a read and let me know what you think...

hooked the tech II up to it and everything is finctioning like it is supposed to except for the fact that the heaters are running at a bit higher of a current than they are supposed to. still within the factory specs of .25 to 1.25 amps bit high when the engine is at operating temp. I ran a diagnostics test on the heater circuits with the motor runnign at operating temp and it failed because the heaters were running at .8 amps and the computer wanted to see them at .45 anyways, what i am getting at is that i think the sensors are too far away from the headers and they are runnign cooler than the computer wants them to so it keeps more juice running to the the heaters to warm them up.... causing the code.

so, i am going to put them closer to the headers right in the collectors when th ewelder is operational again (gotta dig it out of the pile of rubble from the u haul unload).. I figure i'll move them and see if the codes go away. if they do, i'm donee... if not, i am just going to get FIS to "hide them" they can make it so the codes are still stored, but te CEL is off. that way if it throws new codes the CEL still works.. just not for the ones that they turn "off" failure records will still be there though.

anyways, here's a question, in zeroes truck, how far were those 02 sensors from the collectors? on previous truck without codes were they any closer? what about this last one you did... hows it doing?

Yep, i am pleased with the numbers, especially since the last time i treated a truck like that while i was towing it gave me closer to 8mpg.. I drove the piss out of it man, and it ran like a champ.. i man big downshifts into third a few times to pass, and general debauchery along the way when i had to pass a jeep or rover ;) .

peace,
Marco

I think you have it. Because on previous trucks they had been closer. Also on the GSwest truck I have no codes, They are almost close to where they were stock. 1 change was also the tubing is thicker gauge than stock and no rears but I get no light or MIL. The Genysis has everything in right now. I will be able to get a better feel once I drive it some more. The Zero truck sensors were almost near stock but it is running great so I think we will "hide the heater codes" Glad to hear you got some good hammering done on that rig. Sure feels good passing up Jeeps and Rovers with a trailer or not! Good Job and let us know how the hills turn out.

so how far away from the colectors would you say stock is?

When I looked at the original Y pipe they looked about 8" but I could get you an exact. I am going to the bone yard tomorrow.

cool, lemme know!

pullin hills is no proble at all, we got 16mpg on a trip up to Rocky mountian national park from boulder. I drove as fast as was feasable on the twisty roads and basically had a good time listening to the engine purr. very pleased with the results. this is what i built her for.

iaintscard, what was the distance from the collector to the first o2 sensor in the stock scenareo?

I looked @ 2 different Y pipes and all ranged 8 and 8. They weren't exactly 8" but close enough. 8" from the flange of the exhaust manifold and 8 from the very end edge of the Cat. Hope it helps and great to her she's doing so good. Gswest is rolling and I have no codes.

cool, congrats on the new baby! thanks for the info!

welp. pulled up this old thread to forward some pictures and figured an update was due. Truck is running fine. the code issues finally got resolved after lots of reprogramming and even buying a new computer for it (which was a waste of money, the old one was fine) ended up getting FIS to delete the o2 sensor codes and the VSS codes i was getting and now it runs fine. It threw a code for the MAF sensor which was due to an over-oiled filter dirtying up the sensor, and it occasionally throws a code for a lean condition when i give it hell in the mountians.. that seems to be a common problem for these motors/computers though so i am ok with it. it usually goes away after a few ignition cycles.

it is fun in the hills here in denver though.
