Its running ok considering...still having overheating problems among other issues. Been too busy to work on it any and still have yet to check the timing. Waiting on some free time.

Exhaust is great though, sounds awesome around town and I can't hear it at all on freeway at all which is what I wanted.

the engine and tranny i have for sale in the classifieds is free to a good home now. need to get it out of the shop...

left header fixed...

Just for future reference with these swaps, the 62 steering shaft uses a little tiny non-rebuildable joint instead of the large greasable joint in the 60s. It is like an inch and a quarter from cap to cap, so instead of cutting up the headers swapping to a 62 shaft would be feasable.

thanks for the info, may end up doing that when mine melts. Mine was interfering by a over an inch, so i don't knwo if even that would have fixed it.... but i put my motor far far left.

I replaced the front calipers beccause the old ones needed a rebuild. might as well upgrade while your at it..

got the resistor, gonna try it tonight!

Went by to take a look at Marco's truck today... the install looks really clean!

We went for a ride...:eek::eek::eek::D:D:D

The wish list for my truck just got a little bigger;)

got the dash all back in, still chasing the problem of the fan speed not working.... anybody know where that resistor goes plugged in in a 60? i need to find it and make sure it's plugged in, i bet i missed it...

anyways, yep, she ran good (as we say in the south) till i bent a valve:popcorn:. took the motor apart and found that the left head had been replaced with a junkyard head... i guess it was old and had bad springs in it so it let the valves float at a low rpm (less than 6k, which is where FIS set the rev limit). Anyways, kinda sucks but gives me the opportunity to put a better valve train in it ( got frineds that work at comp cams here in memphis... thanks a LOAD Brian!!) and get the heads rebuilt. Should be good as new when it's done...except for the rusty cylinders... take a look at those!!

included pictures of the exhaust routing and the engine placement and FPR placement. I really like the way the 50 series RV exhaust sounds from flowmaaster. not too loud. and I used mandrel bends for the header sections till I got lazy and too the back half to the muffler shop to let them finish it out.

anywho, enjoy....

here you can see the rust in the cylinders..... boooooo

and the exhaust routing. i cut the bellhousing cover for th eoriginal bellhousing to allow the crossover pipe room to come across, pretty slick i think.

and here is the tail pipe routing. they did a nice job. not mandrel bent, but i wanted to get it over with... and drive it. Cam was coming over, so it had to be done for his test drive!!!

then i broke it.... after cam left..:frown:

here is a picture of the tranny centered in the tunnel. nice that it fits with the marks adapter.. stock crossmember, rear motor mount, driveshafts, and the armor will fit back on the bottom of the truck..:grinpimp:

nice setup... rover67 I pm'ed you...

yep, true enough.

my guy is done with the heads now, so I am off to get them for my lunch break. should be on it's way back together again tonight... cam, feel free to swing by. gonna try and slam on it to get it done :)

just goes to show... any motor can have un expected problemas...

roll with it :)

Sorry you are asking about the fan blower speed box ? if it is I get a pic that show the place ..

If not ignore this post ..

Bummer about the bent valve- maybe that's what you get for doing your swap so much faster than the rest of us slow-pokes and making us look bad...:D

seriously great looking swap and I hope this is the last of your worries. Did your V8 smile wear off yet? Me neither.
