I’m redoing some of the wiring and I’m dealing with this from the front of the engine. It connects the headlight and signal wires to the ones coming from fuse box. There is one for each side. The bases are crumbling to pieces and for now I’m them out of wood but was curious what material was it originally? It’s some kind of non-conductive material.

They are some kind of fibery material and plastic. Still available from Toyota, part # 82670-30020

nice! Thank you. Didn't think they would still make this, good job Toyota.

I spent a couple of weeks fixing it, drove it around the block and it was the worst thing I’ve ever driven, terrible brake, suspension, steering, electrical issues etc…. Feeling somewhat defeated in purchasing my nightmarish dream car I came back home and made a list of things to fix. So far I’ve done:

- fixed all shady electrical work, made all the lights work
- replaced brake drums/shoes/cylinders
- knuckle rebuild
- front bearings and seals, including the brass diff housing that took few weeks to fix
- attempted to rebuild the old carb unsuccessfully, replaced by an manual choke Edelbrock (have a 350)
- OME springs/shocks/pins/shackles/bushings
- replaced missing windows. Back and side bug catchers, with new seals
- axles, transmission, transfer case oil change
- new parking brake and seal
- new lights and signals, mirrors, emblems
- tie rod ends
- 33s from our FJ40

And bunch of other little things. Our FJ40 is taking all the garage space so I did all of this in front of our house and in the process met all the neighbors I didn’t know the past two years we’ve been here. Everyone seems so interested.

I’ve driven it a bit so far, overall it’s much improved and I enjoy driving it. The steering has a lot of play but I’m putting power steering next. Here are some pics.
