Finally got a new Cruiser a couple days ago. Had to move some of my must have items down the ladder
but I think I got a pretty clean truck.

Here are the goods: 1997 LC with 133,000 miles. Very clean on the outside, I could barely find a scratch
on the paint. Interior is just as clean, leather seats in pretty good condition, wood grain in excellent
condition and the best part is everything works inside. Carfax was clean, first 4 years of the truck was it being
a leased vehicle, so that I think is a plus.

The not so cool, No lockers (no biggie for me, would have been nice), maintenance history is totally unknown.

Being that the Maintenance history is totally unknown, I have some work ahead of me, which I am totally ok with.
I have already changed the motor oil going with synthetic and using the toyota oil filter, though my oil pressure seems higher now
that I changed the oil and filter same as this guy https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/281288-oil-filter-pressure-help.html
The next on my list is flushing the coolant and changing all of the radiator hoses (hopefully this weekend), after that change the transmission and transfer case fluids. After that do both front and rear differential.

Replacing all heater hoses will be on my list as well.

The Birfs will be somewhere down on the list as I am not confident in my abilities to get the job done by myself and this is my DD. But I have a Toyota only shop near my house.

Here are some pics

After getting through all of the PM work, then some new tires, new ARB bumper, some sliders.

I just want to thank everyone on this forum as it's a great resource and helped my decide on my new LC.

Nice :flipoff2: One of my fav color schemes.

Niiiice; beautiful looking rig!

 and :flipoff2:!

That is a very nice looking truck!

I bought one about a year ago with 161k on the clock and knew none of the maintenance history (yikes!). However, the rig was in great shape so it was obviously cared for. When I bought it I did an oil change, air filter change, spark plugs, and coolant flush. My truck already seems to have the upgraded blue fan clutch hub and the temps are great, but I watch them like a hawk. I'm not sure how familiar you are with the 1fz engine, but keeping the coolant system fresh and tuned up is imperative.

As for the transmission, I checked the fluid for color and odor and even came close to replacing the filter and fluid when common sense kicked in. The fluid looked brand new, didn't have any burned odor and the truck shifts great! Because of these observations, I decided not to flush the transmission. I didn't want to change anything in that well running system for fear that I'd introduce a problem. Do some research here first and then make your decision about the transmission.

Enjoy the new toy!

Nice platform to work with, even if it does not have lockers. Starting with a nice, clean rig is great, isn't it?

welcome :flipoff2:

Looks like it's in beautiful condition

Looks really clean, mind telling what sort of $ deal you got?

Me Like! Well done sir. This is the best place to be!

Very clean and welcome to the club!

That makes three SoCal Desert Dune/Moon Glow Pearl 80's! Although mine is now a Desert Dune/Gray Stucco.

You should visit the SoCal 80's (LINK IN SIG) and meet up with us on some runs or Meet & Greets.

I might be mistaken, but I am pretty sure he is in Northern CA. Sunnyvale is in the Bay Area

edit: also, one more time, what is the difference between radiator and heater hoses? I mean, aren't they the same thing basically?
