To substantial of a truck for the 9.5's in my opinion...I think they look dorky in the 60/62
Especially when stuffed or flexed a bit.

33x10.5's are perfect........

What size rims are you guys running? 15x6?

Well,
put them up next to each other before the install.....
Over 2" taller...

Guess that wouldn't be a fair comparison......If you take off bald 32's and strap on some fresh 33''s......:)

Allthough the 32's I took off were basically full tread, must just be diff. manuf. sizing and tire shape.....

if the tires are actaully 2" taller, that would only give you one more inch of ground clearence.

Softer ride...

Means tall, very soft, very vulnerable sidewall. I had these on one of my V8 60's for a while...ruined one the FIRST DAY on the STREET with something I never even saw/found. Sidewall puncture took it right out. Forget about runnin em with low pressure...way too soft and thin. I did like the way the truck rode and handled, but I think they're not for the heavier rigs. Get the warranty!

I've always liked that combo for a daily driver and moderate trail rig. Heck, I must have 60,000 miles on one set of the 9.5 AT's I have here-can't wear them out. They've been to GSMTR, Moab, Black Hills, aired down, aired up. Heck, I have a set on my daily driver fj60 right now.

Nice pics in this thread btw...

Rick,
Whatever the skinny tires do for you, the stock wheels are WAY better looking on your truck than those ugly white spokers were.

Thx on the wheels, I agree..........I really like the stocker wheels and caps look...(my wife just noticed thismoring when I came back from the grocery store....

I did a little testing with the Oasis airdown Valves and my 40, I think the perfect PSI with this combo is:

18 PSI.......

Thats the pressure I used aired down on my 60 with the skinnies too....tried 12 pounds on a wheeling trip in the 60 with skinnies/ this was waay to low a pressure for rocks...wore the crap out of em....granted it was a 6 hour wheeling trip over red cone and radical hill into breckenridge....

I run 32lbs to 28lbs in my tall skinnies.

I air them down to 18 psi when I wheel and have not had any problems. Any tire can get a puncture, how to you correlate this to being too soft and thin. In my use on and off road, I just don't see that. I have banged them up against plenty off road.

I know lots of people who run the same tire at a different width and they are all happy. On one run, 6 out of the 10 club members had the BFG AT's and we all aired down. Some 40's, 60's and 80's.

I liked these tires som much I bought them for my Lexus. Different width of course.

I have them on all my trucks now......took a while $$$$ but done none the less.

5 of em on the FJ40 was a little hard to swallow.

Discount tire told me they have in route new 33x9.5x15's...he called them:

T/A KO BAZ's......$25.00 more per tire than the ones I put on....::::::::

He also mentioned these have a tuffer sidewall and wear better ??? someone varify the new BAZ T/A KO's...

70 Degrees here in north Colorado....Im outa here.....BRAAAAAAAP !! to the moto track.... :D :D

thx,
R.

Nothin against BFG..just my personal experience. 140 bucks to run that tire 1.5 days really pissed me off! I've had plenty of other BFG's, without problems. When posted on the tlc board, lots of folks corroborated my experience.....

I think it's just the nature or design of radial tires that they won't take direct hits to the sidewall well. So it's not necessarily BFG that is weak in the walls - all radials are relatively weak in the side if compared to bias ply tires. BFG might get a bad name faaster than others do simply because they're used by so many people who are likely to bring about side wall hits.

i'd like to play too. i don't think i've had a *chance* to post a pic with the "new" rubber yet.

yesterday during the *cough cough* snow storm

i agree, it would be nice if the skinny muds were still around. they might not work well, but they sure look good on the street...
