Picked up the new 67 today.

Great front clip. shot tub. Really nice long jump seats.

Needs a motor. I have one sitting in the 55 frame I won't be using.

So...

Swap in the motor, axles, springs, trans etc and keep it a 40

shorten the 55 frame and swap over the 40 body

shorten the tub, put it on the 55 frame and put a pick up bed behind it

Try to put the 40 on a 108" wheelbase with major fender well modification.

or

stretch the 40 into a troopy looking thing (probably isn't worth the effort)

Hi "Gumby"

I'm happy to be the first one to say "this thread is worthless without pics!"

:grinpimp:  :flipoff2:

That being covered, what do you intend to use this rig for? Project 'wheeler, or ??

Regards,

Alan

i'd go with shorten the body, use the 55 frame and add a truck box, because:
a/ I like that
b/ the tub is already shot, it's that much less reconstruction you'll need to do
c/ then all the running gear is already on the frame.

I'm tending to agree. But it's been awhile since a had a 40 and I was struck by the lines when I was looking at it today. It's a good looking truck.

I mean, it's not a 55, but... :D

I could use that F engine if you don't need it. Let me know and I could probably pick it up on our slider day.

It's out where we picked up the car yet. We'll have to set up a Saturday where we can go out and get it.

i have a f-2 engine sitting in my garage that i pulled out of my 72 fj40 if you are looking to buy one. it ran great, it is a complete engine, starter, headers everything including the 3 speed transmission for $1100.00. let me know if you are int.

If yer not going to use that windshield I sho could use those fancy windshield clampy things....

Not even a little bit. I have a compete csb drive train sitting in the 55 chassis and another one with the F motor sitting in the barn. Plus 2 more small blocks in the shop and a 4speed/split case and a richmond/NP208 on a shelf.

I think if I do this I'll have to relocate the front axle and go with 40 steering and shocks. The 40 is about 8 inches from the axle to the front of the radiator. The 55 is closer to 12. In order to fit the 55 radiator behind the 40 grill I'd have to have the front tires back almost to the rear of the fenders

Mad photohack skills.

55 wheelbase with a 40 shortened body and a 45 bed.

Looks like a good project that'll keep you busy for a while. Glad to see another cruiser being saved. Always liked the old hoods with the chrome strip running down the center.
