Bumping an old thread. Which interstate batteries are you guys running?

I have a winch, will probably get a fridge to use occasionally at some point. I don't have a bunch of lights or other extras. The interstate website is telling me MTZ-34 or MT-27. The MTZ is an AGM battery and marketed as dual purpose, which is appealing although my winch won't be used that often.

I just bought this one.

MTP-27

I run Interstates on all my rigs. Interstate AGM's on the diesels. I quit Optima a long time ago after they quit on me....

So Interstate MTZ (AGM) is good to go?

It's difficult to find any info on this battery online, and difficult to find it in stores. I'll have to special order it through NTB. I'm tempted to settle for an optima yellowtop, but I'd rather have something else.

Interstate batteries is a well known Fascist anti-gay corporation with ties and links to a conservative Faith Driven lobby to overturn protection laws. I'm just saying they have some religious war going on,

And your point is?

he other excellent and always rated at the top in comparison tests is the Odyssey Battery ODYSSEY Battery - Official Manufacturer's Site But they are expensive. Too bad, Sears used to carry these rebadged as Die Hard AGM and were $100 cheaper

Take a look at Northstar batteries. Rumor has it the engineer that designs Northstar battery technology was one of the original engineers at Odyssey.
Batteries plus sells them as their x2power and exide batteries AGMs are also made by North Star.
I replaced my Diehard odysseys earlier this year with some of the batteries plus X2 powers. So far they seem to have the same or better capacity

Good. You fixed it.... I was thinking, 'I wish I did know that.'....

I've been looking at the Batteries Plus X2's ... Good info, thanks.

FWIW: I run the Odyssey 34-PC1500, and it has been a good one for the past 3 plus years.

When it comes time to replace this battery, I'll look to install the Odyssey 31-PC2150. It will require modifying the OEM battery holder by bending the tray's lower side towards the fire wall flat to hold that sucker!

One thing I am not seeing mentioned is a sealed battery compared to the one's that have service/vent caps. When off-roading and bouncing around the vented batteries will burp out acid and lead to corrosion on the battery tray and other areas. Also once enough acid spills it will weaken the battery. Look for a sealed battery for what we do. AGM or glass mat batteries work well.

Something to think about...

I have DEKA batteries in a couple of vehicles and they have been great. I would buy those again.
Napa, I will not buy another one of their "napa brand" batteries. A couple failures, and just haven't been lasting.

Unpopular opinion here:

The Everstart Maxx batteries from your local Wallyworld have been getting great reviews. There is discussion on whether they are made by Johnson Controls and where...but On the plus side you can pretty much get your battery's 3 year replacement just about anywhere in the US. HOWEVER, that does no good if it craps out in the middle of nowhere camping, though neither does a super fancy battery either.

This the X2 yall are talking about? There's a 10% off online code. 5 year replacement warranty sounds great to me.
I run a group 34/78, I made some custom boxes for one of my pigs and bought a RuffStuff for the other, if you have time wait for their 20% off sale, they run it several times a year.

This is the box with the Sears/Odyssey battery, I have Battery plus/Northstar batteries in there now.

My other pig with the Ruffstuff box.

A couple articles talking about Northstar.

The X2 looks nice, but no batteries plus around me has one in stock and it will take 2-3 weeks to get one.

I can get an Interstate MTZ today at their store, or Odyssey PC1500 by tomorrow at any Autozone. 4 year warranty on both. Odyssey is $40 more, and 50 more CCA.

I would go with the interstate battery. I replaced my optima battery with an odessey battery and the odessey barely lasted 3 years. I use it as a wheel chock now.

You wouldn't go wrong with either battery.

3.5 y/o Walmart marine 24ms battery has worked very well. Nice to have the marine terminals for the winch. Can withstand being discharged down due to winching.
