l'm looking to replace my dying 100amp battery, on the 4.0 2H ... Its never had enough oomph to start in the cooler mornings...l'm thinking a stop/start heavy duty (truck) Exide 120amp might do the trick, any suggestions welcome.

If I'm not mistaken, Mr. Toyota in the owner's manual suggests a 70Amp battery (2X 70Amp batteries for the 24V), doesn't he?

PS. On the same boat: plan to use my newly acquired 2H engine in my future BJ45 resto...

l'll have to check Mr Toyota...thx.....l bought a heavy duty 85amp battery as a back up last year (German made can't recall the make right now)... its in the ute as the others showing silver/black after charging for 24hrs. My truck will eat then spit out a 70 amp quicker than the 100 amp. l've a 12V system with 2 accessories (CD player & phone charger). l've seen utes with 2 batteries fitted by those who have lots of gadgets...1 to start it the other for numerous accessories... cookers, fridges, various lights, radios, etc...
The 2H is great if its used as intended, its not fast but its steady, pretty economical, (it'll run on just about anything, mines does ie; triple filtered used cooking oil (using it, the ute smells like an old fish & chip/fries van that used to come round my way as a kid, making anyone behind me look hungry in the mirror).. also heating oil 50/50 with diesel...and of course a couple of tanks of diesel & cleaner to flush it all out ;) ).
