Do you have any literature with this for a 67 or older?

As you can see, HVAC (it doesn't matter if it has no AC, it's still HVAC) is in the electrical section as it's own sub-section/heading.

64 catalog only has a diagram for the lv / swb heater. Oddly enough, the part number for its switch (y) is omitted in the parts list. It doesn’t appear if it’s knob was available separately.

Per the 64 parts catalog Corugated topped 40s didnt have heat as an option. My corrugated top 40 had a passenger side heater that looked totally different than either system.

Newer style heater came along in 65. On Ed’s truck the heater is red. On 22022 it’s black. I haven’t seen another red one. Sorry. Don’t have a 65 parts book to see if the knob was available separately.

On a 63-67 4X series? The defrost knob in on the heater with no electric involved? Could see for the blower switch knob but from his wanted ad in the classified section believe Gabe want the defrost knob. Also think the blower switch knob with the H was used until the 73 model which means finding that part number is much easier since it was used past 3/69.

What was the print date of this literature? Looks like a newer formated version. Which brings up the question is why is this information not available to all dealers. Not just older dealers who still had. Does fig 47 show a further break down that would show the mechanical damper/rod/knob? I doubt it. My guess nothing different that the diagram already posted has. Which is what I was saying your not going to find a break down of the heater box with separate part numbers. If you have one if would be nice if you posted it.

When I took a government job the shirt that we were issued had a first name and A/C mechanic. That because a big issue after a while and was debated if it should be HVAC tech or HVACR tech since we did refrigeration as well. So very well familiar with the term HVAC. Just couldn't see Toyota using it in 67. Still don't. They aren't using the word ventilation from what I can see but that what the outside air damper would do.

Do have a question, I can't make out in fig 47 if the heater core has a separate part number? That is the one piece I would expect Toyota to have a replacement part for separate from the heater.

All cooking.

Could you please explain? Was the piece showing just part of a broken knob. All the knobs for electrical switches I've seen for this period screwed on. Threaded shaft is flat on the bottom for a set screw to orientate the knob. The straight spot in the hole on the dash (bracket in this case) was to oreintate the switch.

Yep. You were correct. My hazard, “H” blower fan and my FD all had the knob inners on the shaft.

I wrongfully assumed that was the shaft itself.

Thanks to this thread I now have 100% of my knobs on my 1967 LP-B dash

Oh, and all cooking needs more butter. Not just French food as JC quipped.

On my 1960 FJ25 only piece of the system I can see it having was the heater. Even the switch looked like something aftermarket. On the later (65 model?) the heater switch looks just like the one used after the heater change with the 68 model. I know for sure my 10/69 70 model has them for front and back heaters. Being post 3/69 any dealer if they want to spend the effort should be able to see if the heater blower switch knob was a separate part. Even if it is I'm sure it is NLA. Lucky if you could find a NOS somewhere. Seems other other markets around the world seem to have these hard to find parts than the US. Should probably dig out my heaters and look at them. Remember one being a charcoal color like the next generation heater. But also remember one with more of a gold tint. Who knows what Toyota did back. It's also been so long who knows what PO did.

The OP (Gabe) was interested in the knob for defrost on the face of the heater. That still hasn't been answered 100% either way.

Located my three heaters. One wasn't where I thought it was. Stored that one in a box with the early defrost elbows I have. That one is charcoal on the front but the rest is the silver/grey like the other two. Wondering if the red one was a painted at some point.

Doesn’t matter. HVAC controls are a subsection of the main ELECTRICAL section. Regardless if it is manual or not.

Yes, however early parts manuals do not contain this HVAC specific subsection, but the heater is contained within the electrical section.
