I have a 1969 FJ40 (original owner) that was produced in 08/1968. Toyota made several changes with production beginning 03/1969. Still an F engine (3900CC) but sometimes parts for a "1969 FJ40" don't fit a pre-03/1969. I was ready to rebuild my original Kyosan Denki fuel pump but during my parts search there seems to be new OEM fuel pumps available from Toyota (and resellers). The current OEM part number listed is 231006101 but Toyota OEM parts lists start with 03/1969, although most times they fit my 08/1968 "1969 model year." Does anyone know if fuel pump OEM part number 2310061 will fit my FJ40? My FJ has the original "California" smog pump on it if that makes a difference.

If this is the one your looking at, 23100-60061 then yes, same pump but fuel inlet is clocked different than on a 69.

The clocking of inlet and outlet is key. My pump's inlets and outlets are truly at the 6 and 12. I somehow deleted my photo of my pump and I and I am away from the vehicle for a couple of months. I only have a small leak at the top diaphragm so I will be rebuilding a good, working pump. FYI, the Toyota parts shop that I have used several times indicates that OEM part number 23100-60061 has been superseded by 23100-61011. They do not show a photo of the part but their diagram from the original FJ40 parts catalog looks like my pump with inlets and outlets at the 6 and 12. They indicate that pump 23100-61011 fits 03/69 through 12/72. I might call the parts desk to see if they can check the clocking of the inlet and outlet. Thanks for the suggestion but I will probably just rebuild the pump and install one of the sealed reproduction models available so that my FJ is not deadlined while I rebuild the old pump. I have attached a picture of the original parts diagram if you have any interest. Thanks again for your help -- very useful!
