Hello all! I’ve recently encountered a 2000 100 series Land Cruiser with 277k Miles that I’m considering getting.

Pros:
Owner would trade for my old honda (my secondary car)
Engine Idles Smooth
Drives smooth
Hardly any rust
Paint in excellent shape

Cons:
Carfax history ends at 248k Miles
I would assume no timing belt replacement because the last reported carfax one was at 182k miles
Throwing code p0340 hopefully just the sensor?
VSC lights on with no codes?

Anyways I’d like your thoughts. I think I’m going to do it because it’s basically free 😂. What kind of up front costs am I going to be dealing with here? Would you recommend a complete baseline? Just a timing belt replacement? Thanks!

Considering all of the bolts in the engine bay look to be very clean, it’s likely the bottom is in similar condition. The only thing that can stop these vehicles is rust. An underside pic would help us seal the deal for you, which sounds like a nice deal. Many of us have many miles so mileage is never a concern in a well-maintained truck.

Take the deal and don’t worry about timing belt service until belt breaks or water pump leaks. The end.

Thank you so much for the help! I don’t have any pics at the moment but I know enough about vehicles to know that the undercarriage/frame is indeed in very good shape. My hesitation as stated above is that I have no service records of the past 30,000ish miles, the possible timing belt change, the Cam sensor code, and the VSC lights… I don’t know how much I need to worry about that, and no idea of the ballpark of cost…. Thanks

A Land Cruiser for a Honda? I'd have been bragging about that for a week.

If it's not rusty take it and do the belt right away should be able to do the belt and sensor for $2k or less don't do like the other person said and run till it brakes if you do it's by by engine

Cruiser rides better than any honda product. Only downside is depending on what honda you're coming from, you're paying 2-4x in gas.
