As reraub pointed out, according to how much boot / power you want to make. I don't know how many cc's the stock LC injector has. Wiring up the apexi SAFC is no problem. It is what I installed in my car years ago. But most cars can get away with 4-7 lbs of boost from the factory w/o problem. I havn't kept up with boost controllers in a while, but the electronic ones tend to overshoot. Go manual boost, you can buy the parts from grainger for $25 or just buy completed ones for around $50 (again, last I checked).
that last pic shows the correct orientation of the MAF sensor.
Lean at only 6 psi is really odd. I'd like to see the LTFT % that the ECU is running.
Also if your wide band is showing lean and you don't have a CEL then I'd look at the O2 circuits. If those circuits are faulty then the ECU might be thinking the lean condition is not lean at all.
TRd you can wire an safc into MOST vehic ecu's you just need to know the harness layout. Its best to get with apexi as they should have a diagramI had one on my supercharged T100 and my 2g eclipse.
good point thanks for the information!!!
can you explain to me what LTFT% means![]()
Long Term Fuel Trim %, it's an OBDII value which tells you how much the ECU is compensating for errors in the fueling system.
At 6 psi you are about what the SC guys run. Everyone has reported rich running conditions, even one who configured his system as a blow through MAF with a GT35R.
I'd be sure that everything is normal before adding tuning devices.
good luck. many on this forum have boosted the 1fzfe with both superchargers and a handfull of turbo builds. some good data has been logged also. but very few have tuned the boosted 1fzfe. so far we have just turned up the boost and watched. None has posted a successful solution of hardware. perhaps you will be the first
I'd suggest that you hook up a permanent wideband O2 and an EGT gauge. Make sure your oil pressure gauge functions and your water temp gauge is worth while and this should cover you being able to observe when something craps out and cut the engine.
Those were the gauges I used when tuning my 5vzfe along with the piggy back tuning software and kept me from cooking my head. Are you doing all of this work yourself or a local shop? I've been mulling over doing a turbo on my 1fz.
Keep up the progress man!
I hear with the turbo guys you want to put the probe as close to the turbo downpipe flange as possible to get the most accurate EGT readings.
