So after talking it over with a few experts :D I have landed on steel for the floor and skins. There are a few factors, one is cost, two is weldability, three is strength, four is electrolosis, five is I live in the dry west.

That said I hope to start skinning this thing within the week. :D

Right on, Drew. That's looking awesome. You'll be able to drag that thing to breakfast in January, at this rate!

January would be nice we'll see how it goes. :D

X2 on steel. Riveted aluminum will rattle and eventually rivets will fail. Im always replacing rivets on my snowmobile trailer.

What type of trailer is the snowmobile trailer please? Thanks.

I love to build stuff. And all these pics of your progress looks like you are having a BLAST! At least they are blast for me to look at and making me want to build something.

Great build! And well thought out!

Keep up the good work.

PROGRESS?!?! MORE PICTURES!!!

Rezarf is devoted, this was taken about 2 minutes ago in my backyard, hes trying to get the last of the square tube bends done.

Too much snow, been busy at work, and gotta get the drawings worked out for the sheet metal. Sneaked over to Ullr's house tonight to make a few more bends before I have to return 2badfj's die to him tomorrow.

Thanks again Ian for the bender time! :D

I gotta be honest, if you are needing anything fabbed you need to contact my man Jim, the famous 2badfj's at

Solid Rock Off Road! <-- linky

...shameless plug for a dude who has really helped me out. Seriously people, you can get rock solid custom work done for the price of production pieces, Jim is the man!

if you need it longer let me know, i've got time drew :)

Nope, got it all done tonight bud, I will call tomorrow when we head through around 4ish.

Sing it with me... "Rezarf the white nosed reindeer..."

I let this idea die until I realized that I can now bend square tubing. I might re-think my side box idea. It is a great idea that I got from AT's Horizon trailer... which is 'da BOMB! :D

My main hesitation was the idea of attaching sheet to round steel, but now the square tubing gives me easy mounting of the sheet. Whatcha' think?

Here is a rough sketch...

Looks good, but I think angling the "panier" boxes is more work than it's worth. I'd go for rectangular, like on the Horizon.

More work, yes, but it fits with the overall design scheme he has working:)

Agreed, if I didn't care how the overall thing looked, i would be a blessed man... with a HUGE box on a bomb proof frame and would have been done about 2 months ago.

...8 bends a few stringers and the boxes are done... yeah right! :D
