I settled on 42 all around after grabbing this guide from my local tire shop...

Idea was to closely match load ratings to oem. Thanks to all for going thru discovery here...it was a rush Fri night and am glad I shared here as it was a benefit no doubt.

btw - he highlighted 32 psi incorrectly for factory. I know you would catch that easter egg...

If we truly bought into this whole land cruiser is unbreakable hype or whatever it is to you, then lifting and adding e rated tires are trivial. People do it ALL the TIME for all makes and models for show and go.

Toyota's engineering should be overbuilding or overengineering this thing to handle the so called rigors of backyard garage modifications within reason.

You can split hairs and Google yourself silly but no one really knows what within reason is except mr land cruiser himself whoever that may be.

All I know is my 200 is dialed in and wish others could share in my joy. You take risks my going aftermarket and it is one I take on gladly. Stock is for your mother.

I got in my cruiser after leaving the tire store and had to turn around after I saw the PSI in all my tires were at 33. I turned around and told them to fill it up to 40 psi thanks to all the post that gaijin has posted in the past. The manager said "oh no!" that is way to low for E rated tire. I said yep fill em up lol.

My non professional input on the E rated tires specifically the ko2's... They are stiffer but not bad at all, my wife doesn't even notice the difference. Can hardly even hear the Ko2's on the road or freeway, we often drive with the radio off and just chat. The 5.7 doesn't seem to have a problem with the heavier tires. The car still gets up and goes, I hardly notice a difference. Put on my Utility trailer the other day it weighs about 1,000 lbs and I had about 1,200 lbs in it... Can't feel a thing. No impression on the trails as I have not been :( No impressions on the snow either.... seems to have skipped Utah and gone over to Buffalo

My other car the FJ Cruiser feels like a dog with the 285/75r16 (57 lb tires) and the trailer on the back. It's always downshifting and hunting for gears... Horrible, just horrible. But it's a smaller engine... Even with out the trailer going up a hill it's a hunting for gears all the time... In 4lo it's fine :) It's almost torture going on road trips with the FJ tiny tiny tiny car

Does my pinstripe and fuzzy dice count as after market? :)

Great news, keep us posted on your impressions, wish someone would try these with a LX. I'm kind of chicken ;)

The 3.90 gears in the FJ are part of the problem.

So with different gears it will help with power. Does it affect gas mileage in a good or bad way? What gears would you do? I know it off topic but since you mentioned it lol

adding 5% to profile of 285 wide tire adds a little over 1/2" to ride height - ego a bit more than an inch to overall diameter.

40 is nearest (above) stock load rating without breaking the rule of "never pressure with less than half maximum" in this case 80...I had a bad reading earlier and now my cold pressure is 40 all around. Rule only applies for highway speeds of course.

When I contacted Toyo in regard to tire pressures on my LC (same size as stock), they responded with this.

Thank you for contacting Toyo Tires USA. We would recommend cold pressures of 45 PSI front and 48 PSI rear for your new Open Country AT II's 285/60R18 120S tires.

Thank you again for choosing Toyo Tires!!!

I'd recommend you simply email BFG, let them know what you are driving, its weight and if you are towing and go with their recommended pressures. The pressures on the door jam were for the OEM tires and will not necessarily match up with non OEM tires.

Archtaan,

Sounds like you received a canned response from Toyo with incorrect pressure recommendations. If you have the 285/60R18 120S XL Product Code 352190 tires, and the stock tire size on your LC was P285/60R18, then you should be using the tire pressure(s) listed on your door jamb.

The door jamb recommended tire pressures are NOT brand specific - they will work for ANY tire of the same size and load type. The 352190 tires from Toyo are the same load type (not LT tires) as OEM.

45/48 F/R pressures are way too high.

Just got my 200 outfitted with the KO2's in 285/65-R18. They are awesome so far. Really changes the ride of the truck (for the better IMHO) and I am looking forward to testing them off road soon. :-)

Checking back in to report on the AT KO2's after 3,000 miles on the Cruiser. I love love love these tires. They ride so well for an AT tire!! Some light trails and they grip well in my book. We just had a storm hit Utah and I was up in the Park City area looking at some homes and we were at the top of the mountain! Saw a Subaru stuck on the side of the mountain from a slide off, and another vehicle stuck in his drive way. There was about 10" of snow and some really steep grades up and down in this mountain neighborhood. The temp was 19 degrees and the roads were iced over. Going from the Valley up Parley's canyon on the freeway an up to the neighborhood, that is close to The Canyons Ski resort. I had 100% confidence in the tires perfromance and was not worried at all. The tires handled wonderfully!! Much much much better than the old AT KO tires these KO2's replaced. MUCH Better!!! All I can say is that I am 100% happy with these tires I love them and they make the cruiser look way better to boot!!!

My average MPG combined is 13.8 to 15.7 depending on the tank. I usually get 14.0 -14.2 it seems like.

Pro's in my book
- quite ride
- aggressive look
- Soft ride for and E-rated tire
- Awesome grip in the snow
- Great grip on a mild off road trail rated a 4 in my off road trails book
- Does not hit the mileage that bad, about 1mpg in my experience

Con's
- Heavy... acceleration has been noticeably decreased and so has breaking
- A hit in gas mileage (but what do you expect??)
- Rougher ride than stock (But great for an E-rated AT tire)
- So many people stopping you and asking about what you think of the new KO2 tire lol

All in all I would 100% buy these tires again!!!

I hope this helps anyone looking at them

I wonder if they will ever release a 295??

While the decreased performance you note is certainly true (I notice the same with my 285/70-17's compared to stock), I would suggest it is more due to the increased diameter of the tire than the weight.
