If you can, try to hit the bolts with "Kroil" or "aerokroil" penetrating lubricant. That stuff is expensive, but it's by far the best stuff I've used and IMO would give you the best bet of those bolts coming off intact without creative measures.

Thanks for the recommendation.

I'm familiar with PB B'laster and the mechanic said he was going to use something even better. Should have asked him what he was using.

Regardless I will check out Kroil and will give it a shot if the bolts are indeed seized.

I'm trying not to get too worked up about it at this stage. The bolts are doing their job even if corroded and the only reason to remove them is to replace the cat shields (they are spotless).

Update time.

I ended up taking the car to a local auto body guy for surface rust cleaning and fluid film application. He wasn’t familiar with FF but he was willing to do the work for a pretty good price. He used 3 aerosol spray cans, so probably not the most comprehensive application but the underbody looks nicely coated and he avoided the exhaust and brakes.

In terms of the KDSS valve, I had asked him to remove the surface rust with a wire brush and then spray liberally with LPS3. All of the rust came off easily, but he decided to paint the bare metal (and bolt heads) instead of just coating with the rust inhibitor.

I have seen some others suggest painting the assembly with Rustoleum, although I would have preferred he tape off the bolts. Rust on the KDSS valve should be off the table for the foreseeable future and hopefully the paint doesn’t cause the bolts to magically seize up lol.
