So I love my 2011 LX570 but I have to say I have hated the brakes. The brakes work but take a lot of effort to haul down this heavy rig. Particularly in the cold (I live with Chicago winters) with the OEM ceramic pads. TODAY I fixed that!
I did a bunch of research and part number cross referencing and some government registration number sleuthing. I learned that the Tundra TRD brake pads fit the LX570 (Thanks to MUD). I learned that cryo treated rotors typically last 3x the life of standard and hold up to heat better (thanks MUD again). Then I figured out that StopTech Sport pads are what Toyota markets and sells as TRD pads at 1/2 the price! (this I dug up by googling images of the TRD pads until I found a photo that was clear enough and of the pad edge that I could see a number code on the friction material. Searching against that number I found it pop up in the government list of approved friction compounds for brakes and it is assigned to CEN (for Centric Brakes). A bit more searching and I learned the registration number is for StopTech's Sport compound and BAM, there you go!
I was unable to find any vendor that listed these pads for the LX/ LC or the rotors with cryo treatment. Armed with the manufacturers part numbers I ordered them from a StopTech distributor and 3 weeks later they showed up. After installing all of it this morning. Which was seriously the easiest vehicle I have ever done a brake job on. I followed the bedding procedure and BAM the brakes are awesome! I am so happy with the outcome. They are quiet and have great bite and stopping power and modulation. I am sure they will continue to improve as the continue to bed. I am expecting greater brake dust from these semi-metallic pads but honestly I don’t care. I’m just glad to be stopping better.
Here are the parts:
Pads: StopTech Street Sport (TRD OEM)
Front 309.13030
Rear 309.13040
Rotors: Centric Cryo Treated
Front: 120.44162CRY
Rear: 120.44157CRY
