Pulled the tint off the hatch glass yesterday.

It looked nice a black from the outside but from the inside it was streaky and hazy. There were 2 layers of tint on there. Jeez that was time consuming and tedious.

It will get replaced with a light UV film at some point.

Still have the cargo and 2nd row glass to remove. Figured I'd start with the toughest most time consuming window.

Noticed a break in the defroster tab ground tab on the passenger side. View attachment 3624355View attachment 3624363

Wondering if this can be soldered back together with a low voltage solder gun or bridged with a small wire

Has anyone tried this type of repair?
It only took me 10 months but I finally repaired the rear window defroster cracks.

I used MG Chemical Silver Conductive Pen & tested it with the Ohm meter for continuity. All appears good.

Will have to wait for a frosty morning to see if it will actually hold any current and actually work.

My floor liners that I got from eBay arrived the other day. I got around to installing them today. They fit pretty good except for the rear heater on the second row. It's clearly for a FJ62 or a FJ60 without the rear heater installed. Once I trim the 2nd row mat and they have some time to settle they should fit much better.

I might need to add a floor mat anchor on the driver side as it seems to move just a bit. I have some spare black Toyota Toyota/Lexus anchors and a grommet kit that will fix it right up.

I got the DNP carpet and floor mats too but haven't installed the carpet yet.

However, I have run the floor mats for the last two weeks with limited driving.

They are a nice match to the stock carpet as seen in this pic.

But the heel wear on the driver mat after a week was what drew me to get the floor liners. I think they'll hold up better as they are similar to a Weather Tech thickness and a bit thicker than my old Audi all weather trunk liner

That’s exactly what I used and it works ok. About as ok as the original heater traces, which is to say: not great.

Ugh, I guess anything is better than nothing. I'll test the voltage back there tomorrow and see what it's showing. If it's too low I may run another 12 volt wire back there and use the current wire to trigger a relay

WANTED : 80 series steering box

My leak in the stock box is back and I might as well upgrade it.

Edit - I think it was residual Dexron fluid from the massive soft line leak as I cleaned it off again and the leak hasn't returned in a couple of days.

These look great!

Are these rubbery or more of a hard plastic? How thick are they?

They are a couple of mm thick and plastic like the weather techs and similar style mats. They are little less rubbery than my old Husky mats in my 80 series and a lot less rubbery than late model Toyota All Weather mats, if that makes sense.

Seeing as these are the only form fitted mats out there for a 60, that I could find, figured I'd take a shot at them.

I think I am going to run these in the carpet

and this in the floor liner

That should keep that mat from shifting around. I'm sure the 62 front driver mat wouldn't have this problem as it has the molded dead pedal and that should hold the mat in place better

Worked on identifying some leaks today and spent a lot of time scraping off old crud and grease.

After replacing the power steering lines and giving it a good wipe down the other week, I noticed some power steer fluid on the steering arm again.

So wiped it down again really well, ran it cycled the steering. No leak evident any where. Thinking/ hoping it may have been residual fluid from the leaking soft hoses.

Fingers crossed. Just in case I have a used 80 series box on the way from @cruisermatt

Found that the original PCV hose spring clamps had lost their ability to stay tight.

The PCV hoses were leaking and there was a light coating of oil all over that area.
IMG_4156.jpeg

Cleaned up the oil and replaced the clips with 15mm spring clips and for the vacuum switching valve hose a 10mm & 12mm spring clips.

One more leak taken care of.

On to the oil pan. Cleaned this all up.
Going to re-torque all the oil pan bolts tomorrow and see if that helps.
Also seem to be getting some coolant at the pan arch. Seems to be dripping from above the water pump (replaced last spring).
Need to fish a bore scope up there and see where it's coming from. Hopefully it just a clamp that needs tightening.

Went ahead and bit the bullet and bought another RH side tail light seal from @cityracer

I bought this set well over 2 years ago and should have checked that they were the right ones when they arrived.
Oh well, live and learn.

I pulled the left tail light to clean up and put the new seal on, only to find that the housing is cracked.

Such is life with an old vehicle I guess.

Does anyone have a good light housing they could spare?

At least the lenses aren't cracked. I polished them up and they turned out really good.

Sanded down the JB Weld and put the new gasket on.

She's a fat gasket and need some love squeezing the lense on.

Prob need to re adjust the gasket on a warm day.

One down, one more to go when my CityRacer gasket arrives.

Here's the original gasket. As you can see it sits a lot more flush with the body.

The original rubber seals cleaned up really well. The rubber was in excellent shape under all the gunk and dried out gaskets.
Will likely get a pair of the Cruiser Cult gaskets and put in the "Just in case Box"
