Oooohhhh, that is Niiiicccceeee!!!

I am definitely going to subscribe to this one.

Ya this crappy cell camera doesn't do it justice, it's actually much nicer than you'd think. Very happy, but it's almost too nice!

Dropping the engine into the frame today...

That thing is going to be almost too nice to drive, almost. I can't wait to see it all together. That will be the closest to what it might have looked like when it rolled off the line many moons ago. Probably better.

it's pool lining ..

go to your local outdoor space place , Art Knapps or something similular , people whom build water fountans or back yard pools . it's like 30C a foot

Inner well protectors.

Pool lining. I will go and check that out. Anybody have a good system for fastening them on that also involves quick removal for access?

Lots of progress in the last week. Engine, trans, gas tank, brake & fuel lines, some wiring is in, front suspension is rebuilt. I just finished setting the cab on the frame a few minutes ago.

Oops...

I'll try again, a little truck porn close up:

OK, that is a little ridiculous. What Toyota warehouse did you pilfer to get such immaculate parts? You are making me really want to completely disassemble my 90 pickup and send it to you in pieces to reassemble for me. I can't wait to see a picture of it pulled up on a dealer lot parked next to, and putting to shame, a "new" Tacoma.

No new parts in that photo, everything is original. I sent a bunch of brackets and hardware down to a guy in NJ that does yellow zinc plating. The stuff came back amazing, it was expensive but worth it. The PS tube got blasted and painted, like a lot of other stuff.

I too look forward to pulling up to a dealership window, just to see what happens.

This summer really sucked cleaning up all these parts, lots of time in front of the blast cabinet, but I'm having the time of my life now bolting everything back together.

You are doing what evry one of us who built model cars as kids dreamed of, you are building a real life model car!! I am excited for you.

And that zink is amazing. Are you using original hardxware too or are you sourcing new? If new where from? I would love to find a good outlet for all those shouldered and washered metric nuts and bolts. Try finding a decent 10 or 12 x 1.25 in any hardware store and most folks will look at you like you have a duck on your head. And God forbid you want them in 10.9 grade...

Some hardware I am reusing, some of that got re-plated (just the stuff you can see), but a lot of it is getting replaced with stainless. I bought a bunch of stainless M8 and M6 bolts today at Fastenal, but unfortunately it's not JIS, doesn't have the nice captured washers like the OEM hardware has. The M8 bolts had 13mm heads, which sucks, but I searched high and low and couldn't find stainless JIS-spec hardware. I'm only using it on non-structural stuff, things that rarely get removed, like brake line clamps, etc.

My realization today: no matter how many photos you take, it's not enough. And you are not gonna remember where everything goes when you put it back together.

Ok, I need some help here, I can't for the life of me remember or figure out what goes through this hole in the firewall.

It's not the speedo, throttle, or e-brake cable. Not the heater cable. Can't think of any wires that go through there.

Passenger side, right behind the intake, about 1/2" in diameter. Not a threaded hole. That line you see to the left of the hole is the fuel return line from the FPR. That Can someone check their truck and clue me in?

Lol
Now you've reached the fun part.
I went through it with my 60. A couple years worth of stripping, sanding and blasting.
The sad part is that you kinda don't want to get it dirty.
Glad the NJ guy worked out for you. He did alot of great parts for me too.

Btw, i took 1947 pics to help me put mine back together.:hillbilly:

Looks awesome so far!

I think that is the hole that the AC condensate drain goes thru.

Edit: That may be the larger one below it that you can barely see. I just went and looked at my 90 and I don't see a hole in mine in that area, but they are probably slightly different. There is a bracket that holds the clutch hard lines in that general area, but don't know why it would need that big hole to locate it. It isn't where one of the AC hard line goes thru is it? Or maybe something for the heater controls...

No, the AC condensate drain hole is below, you can barely see it in the photo, I've already plugged that one. And the AC hard lines are to the left, already filled with rubber plugs. The clutch hard line does pass down right there, there's a clamp that bolts to the threaded hole just below the mystery hole.

I'm stumped. I'm thinking there's supposed to be a rubber plug in the hole, but it's not in any of my parts collections. I have a similar sized mystery hole on the other side, right by the throttle cable hole. Can't figure out what it's for either.

I just went out and looked at mine again and the next gen cabs have a more pronounced projection into the engine bay right there. I wedged my hand down in there and I couldn't feel anything but sheet metal.

My 88 is too far away to go look at right now, but I will see if I have any pictures that might show anything that would help.

Edit: It is a plug I think. I found a picture that I think shows it. I will try and get ti posted for you shortly.

I think the plug in question is in the middle of this picture. Sorry for the terrible quality, it is a cropped cell phone picture. It is a 3.0 rig and I tried to get the canister in it for reference.
