Chamba, Breckenridge, I'm glad you spoke up. As I said before I REALLY don't want to go with a big spacer but now, after seeing this angle from KY's rig I think the 1/4" is pretty darn close to the look I want anyhow.

My eventual goal is an expedition build I can drive several hundred miles to camp and play on the dirt roads (places like Cloudcroft and Ruidoso) it will also double as a hunting rig if I can ever get lucky on the NM draw system. I've read many opinions from both sides of the spacer spectrum and while I would be the guy that checks torque obsessively, I still don't want another link in the chain that could fail. I believe I'll go with the 1/4" spacers and see how that plays out. Worst case, my neighbor has a 60 with a blown engine next door I could probably pick up cheap for the axles...

Longhunter, thanks for all your help. I'll stop high-jacking your build thread now! ;)

Anybody know where this attaches to frame?

I know it protects the brake lines, but darn it can't remember how it goes...

On the inside frame, over the brake line "T" at the bottom of the passenger fender. Looking down from the top, the single leg (or bolt hole) goes to the right.

To the left of battery tray?

Went ahead and ordered new Lexus lug studs from Jegs.com. Kind of costly but thought it was cheap insurance when running wider aluminum rims.

Part # 070-100-7715 Lexus IS300 wheel studs. They are at least 1 inch lo ger than oem FJ40 studs.

KY,

Not sure if you've installed these yet but they will not work on my front disc brakes. The knurling portion doesn't extend far enough to make it through the rotor to the flange. It just rattles and spins in the rotor hole. back to the drawing board for me! (haven't tried them on the rear drums yet).

Ok, well be prepared to go another route for the front... I'll keep you updated on a solution! In the meantime, I have 12 ARP lug bolts for sale... :(

It appears that I do as well. Sorry for any misinformation.

Any progress with the wiring harness yet? Let me know if you need help - I'm great at holding flashlights and drinking Yuengling's ....

Harness is ready to plug in.

I've been running heater hose, oil temp unit, reinstall carb and insulator plate.

Also, finish running remaining brake line and hoses before I can fill all fluids, charge battery and crank for the first time in ## years!

Im pretty sure I've got #1 cylinder at TDC but still a little unclear where distributor needs to be pointing.
