:cool:Just went through this entire thread again ... still can't believe what you've done. If you can take that truck and get to this point, surely we can take my '62 and get it half as good. Notice I said "we" ... ahahah.

Time to fit the roll bar back in the truck. Trying to decide whether to sandblast and powdercoat or rattlecan gray.

Might even use 2 main hoops, tie together and paint satin black???

I plan on spraying mine with raptor liner. It's an area that just gets scratched really easily with seat belts or gear piled in the back. Powder coating would be the easy thing to do, but cost is a concern. Mounting stuff to the roll bar with PC would take special care too. A raptor kit can be black or color matched. Cost is about 100.00. All said a rattle can of grey is cheap and easy to touch up.

Bear in mind, if you put a hard top on, you'll need to shorten the rear hoop by about 3/4" to clear the rear of the roof.

Do you speak from experience?

I thought I've seen this before...

I do speak from experience. Sadly I powder coated mine before I discovered it was too tall....

Though I just recalled, mine were from a '79 and an '82. It might be that the older hoops were not as tall.

I think I will stick to stock then.

I will be running a soft top, but also have my hard top. The black hoop in picture is a pre-79 hoop and appears to be same height as the gray one.

Of course I could just mock up the hard top to check fitment...

CLR and some scrubbing?

Sent from my Nexus 7 using IH8MUD

BTW does anyone know why I can't upload an image for an avatar?

I've tried everything and even asked support.

,

the size of the pic may be too large - the avatars do not automatically self-reduce like other pics

Throw it back on and pretend you never saw it. Then delete the post :)

I know it sounds like a stupid question. I was thinking of the rust like a living bacteria!

I cut 5/8" out of my hoop and it fits with maybe 1/4" to spare.

I just measured my hoop. I have 5/8" clearance and that is how much I cut out. So I reckon it would fit and just touch the top.

Thanks for measuring. Would you do it again? or leave stock?

I'd do it again but I'd do it differently. I wish I'd put it on without the roof fist. I would do it again without cutting the hoop and see if it actually rubbed the roof. I had to cut it just to get it in with the roof on. Mine was much harder than yours as my LX didn't come with a roll bar and I had to modify some of the interior trim to fit it.

I do like the look though. I'll post some pics here once I get a chance.

I powder coated mine semi gloss black, but that was what came from the factory. What color are your seat frames going to be painted? I would match that.
