Say it isn't so! I am assuming that you busted the manifold bolt off? Let me know when you need the TIME SERT set and I will drop it in the mail. Hopefully it broke off with some of it protruding to allow for a vice grip. Perhaps an easy out or a reverse drill bit, but I haven't had any luck with either.

What the Truck?

I must say your details have kept me entertained now for a few hours.What a wonderful project you have done!I would never every had started with what you did but taught a lot of folks it can be done!
I am so happy you are not using the header as uncoated rot or burn out very fast.The carb you plan on putting on I am sure you will go back to the stock one.
Your attention to detail Wow.Being you now have thousand in money & the hours I sure hope no rust reappears soon for you.I am so impressed.I am now hoping to see your finished project too.Now if I can fiqure out how to follow this post in the settings Keep up the great work bro.Your going to love your cruiser sarge which you named her.

Well I rolled it outside to take a picture and clean the dust off when it started to rain !

Maybe tomorrow.

How close are you to having this on the road full time? Or is this going to be a parade queen?

It's close, but then again when you only work 1 or 2 hours per week that could be a longtime.

* Wiring Harness
* figure out manifold carb accelerator linkage
* Front Brakes
* bleed brakes and clutch
* Jump Seats - paint and recover
* Paint Windshield Frame and reinstall ws
* Soft Top Bows need adjustments and paint
* hard doors are on but havent gotten all handles etc back togetherr

Geez, just writing this I'm realizing that I'm a longways off from being DONE but not along way off from running down the road.

I was showing it to a friend yesterday who was saying I'll get my money back out of it. But honestly I didn't do all this work to sell it. I'm looking forward to driving it!

That being said I'm not going to hardcore wheel it or cruise the mall.

It's important to raise them right.

I know a heat shield used to bolt to the front threaded boss on the manifold, but I draw a blank on what goes to the rear threaded boss. You'll probably wind up lopping off the rear boss. A few minutes with a cutoff wheel...

Excellent job.

Hi KY, if you don't mind me asking... What did the rear tub cost you? I'm trying to figure if its better for me to buy a new rear tub or try and fix the one I have. The one I have is pretty hammered so I'm looking at replacing the rear 1/4 panels, rocker panels, rear sill, corner channels... or in other wards its about the whole outside of the tub that needs to be replaced. The inside is mostly good with just small holes I'll cutout and repair. I'm trying to see if the cost to buy a new 1/2 or 3/4 tub is close to the cost of the panels I'd be replacing. If I didn't have to rework all that metal for about the same cost then its a win for me.

daito...When I started I thought I could buy the separate panels and put it back together myself. I bought new quarters, rear sill, corner channels and rear bed and rockers. Then I bought a welder and "taught" myself to weld. I quickly determined that I was not cut out to do it myself and looked at paying someone to do it for me, but once you pull out the calculator was not far off of buying a complete 3/4 tub. I'm not saying it can't be done. there are people on this forum that amaze me with their DIY metal fabrication skills, but it was more than I could handle. I also don't know your skill set, so only you can answer that.

The 3/4 tub I bought from Pilgrim cost about $5000 not including shipping. I put together a group buy and had a couple of guys join in to help defray the cost of shipping from Costa Rica. This is an adventure I would probably not do again for too many reasons I don't care to mention here.

I talked to Jonathan Ward once and he told me he won't patch a rusted tub, but instead scours the Southwest United States looking for 100% rust free trucks and pays the coin to have a fresh base to work with. At the time I thought this was a little grandiose, but since understand his philosophy.

So if your tub is that bad off (and it probably is) then your best bet is a 3/4 tub, possibly even Aqualu aluminum tub.

Good luck !!! :wrench::beer::wrench::beer::wrench:
