I am a decently poor college kid haha. And thanks, i think this truck will get him off his hotsy totsy fly fishing forum and over to the fun crowd on mud!

There is nothing wrong with thsoe fly fishing forums! That rack will make a great rod holder when running from one location to the next!!! :flipoff2:

Funny s*** in this thread.

Really funny.

Nick and Patrick should live together in Nicks new pad in ATL.

Idk Greg, he just got a few Sage rods for his birthday... He will probably try and make me sit in the back so that he can strap his prized possessions into the passenger seat so the airbag will protect them lol. That and he doesn't like roof racks that much. I'll probably steal it and buy some of nicks old scratch and dent light bars to put on it. I'd love a 42" bar on the rear for the sole purpose of blinding tailgaters :)

I'm just a hi-larious person haha. And yeah that place is cool! But I've heard enough stories from him about his previous city living experience. I'd definitely apply for a Ga weapons license before moving there hahaha.

Imagine if said person behind you also had a bar, would that be like playing light chicken? ;). Sweet looking 80.

In the mail now, i have some spidertrax wheel spacers and some more of LCwizards 4+plus stuff, so i will soon have everything i need, so may be able to find the time to get back to work on woody sometime this month.

The sky widening kit is balls and looks like a PO welded them to the hubs or something, that was a nice surprise after i FINALLY managed to take all the stripped bolts off out of it… And 1.5" spacers for the front aren't ideal, but they're blue, so fxxx it. ill check and re torque them religiously.
And one of the u bolt flip kit shock mounts was damaged, so i snagged another one of those + some u bolts. Thanks Dave, for selling me part of a kit!

Those are the last couple things i needed to buy for the swap. I realized that my old axle to frame brake hoses were long enough to safely take the place of the elbow bend on the front axle dust shields, so ill be getting rid of those pesky caliper hard lines. Aww yeaaaah, savin money.

I have those spidertrax you're talking about. I have them on all fours. I torque them all the time because I'm so paranoid, but it's the only way to fit my new wheels on the rig. So far I've not had any issues with them. I must have missed why you're ordering yours, is it just for the front?

I'm guessing he is probably going to run 80 series wheels all around.

That 80 series rear axle is wider than the 60 axle, but wheel back spacing is higher with the 80 wheels. So if he ran low backspace wheels on all four corners there is a chance the rear track width would be wider than the front. Which is the opposite of what you want. I seem to recall a two inch difference on a 60 series wheel mount surface width.

Cool stuff dude :)

Oh yeah! damn i knew i remembered seeing a 60 with them. asking you would have saved me a lot of second guessing about whether or not they would fit over the front hub

I need them because the rear 80 axle is 3" or so wider than the 62 axle up front. so yep just for the front

Just came back home from working on rusty and found the 4+plus u bolt flip kit shock mount waiting at my door :) My spidertrax got here last friday so now its safe to say i am about 95% ready to begin swapping axles, diffs, lockers, etc. I just need to wire wheel a few things, then paint, and BOOOOOOM… things happen!!!
It should be a busy next couple of days since its supposed to be nice and sunny for the rest of the week! hopefully, ill be pretty much finished up by wednesday.

heres what was going down today…

Removed the front 3rd, gonna grind and paint tomorrow morning :)

happy little pinion gear down there

Big locker teeth

Other half of the locker teeth… from the back
(this is the part that moves to mesh the teeth together to lock and move apart to unlock)

Looks like Christmas came early. When you get a chance, could you post up what the torque specs for the spider trax are. I seem to remember they are either 95lbs/ft or 85lbs/ft. Thanks.

After quite literally, minutes of planning, Aidan and I finally got to work doing thangs … Grinding and painting all the parts of the u bolt flip kit, as well as the new pass. side knuckle (caliper bolt is stripped and retapped), and fully assembling the chilkat actuators for installation…

And here it is! Its cool looking!

Psh, leaky drum brakes, not anymore!!!

Ill have you know, we only dropped this axle one time while moving it into position hahaha.

After spending many many more minutes convincing myself that the 60 series e brake would be wide enough for the new axle, it quickly became apparent, after i got a pin in one side, that it wasn't going to be nearly wide enough lol. Luckily, Rusty saved the day with its amazing parts. I got to learn how to remove/install an almost brand new 80 series e brake cable into a 62. That also gave me some good ideas on how to route the locker cables, so it turned out to be a good thing :)

The rear axle brake line is another little annoyance, instead of connecting to the axle on the passenger side like it normal, the 80 series brake hose (and diff breather) connects right in the middle of the axle. Rusty has a wilwood proportioning valve right at the master cylinder instead of an LSPV. Im going to continue running the Load sensing proportioning valve, so Rusty had no easy swappable parts so i needed to sort of rig up a hard line + brake hose coming straight out of the LSPV leading to the axle. It will definitely need a more permanent location before any sort of flexing because the hard line will bend and eventually snap. Im looking to get a super fancy SS hose for that.

I was planning on replacing that little 3 bolt plug with a block off plate my little brother cut/shaped PERFECTLY (to my amazement) with a cutoff wheel and got powder coated purple, but after thinking about what the plug actually was there for (locker position sensor), i decided it would be a good idea to just add some lights in the dash that come on when the locker is engaged. Sad though that i didn't get it painted purple :o

Only problem i see is how busy the 4" section right next to the diff on the driverside is… Im supposed to fit the extended brake hose, e brake line, diff breather, fab up a mount for the LSPV arm, AND snake the locker cable through all that mess… WTF! :bang::lol::popcorn:

Super bald, weird sized (34x12.50r16) intercos looking mighty tiny in that spot.

And yes, i know that 80 rims on a 60 series looks a bit silly, they sort of remind me of those douchetastic Rockstar rims, but they are what I've got, so I'm running them until i get bored of them and try something different.

Got that Cruisa lean going on because that passenger side tire decided it wanted to be a useless flat instead of a FxxxING. TEAM. PLAYER!!!

This photo angle is weirding me out. Sticks out so much!

So now were about 40% done with the front, I didn't have all the red grease or diff fluid i needed and for some reason Autozone doesnt want to be open on Christmas??? so we stopped early after tearing out the old stock axles.

We probably should've done more (i.e. drained front diff, installed longer studs, shaved the side of the axle housing, installed new locked 3rd) but i was too annoyed at the front u bolt flip kit i got off rusty… because i have shims, the top plate didn't want to sit flat (parallel to the ground), instead it wants to point forward. Ive contacted LCwizard, so I'm seeing what he recommends. I may just buy new ones for the front. The rear part he sent me a few days ago is ALOT nicer than the older style kit i got off rusty that Dave probably made years ago.

So yeah, my 75% tread remaining, Toyo MTs 33x12.50r15 on 15x9 black steelies (3.5" BS) are officially for sale… PM me… Snuck that in all smooth like

Merry Christmas everybody :candycane::santa::candycane:

That would've been a good idea to take before and after pics hahaha. Heres the best pic i could find of the changes in diff offset.

Just looked and it says 85#, but I'll probably do a little more just to be certain.
