Thanks Randy... I will....

Leg is still attached !!!!:D:D
Down to one crutch now but I can't sit and just let time go by...
Too damn hard to do that...
I can hear the calling !!!

Philos1, in the next two weeks I'll get the tranny and adapters all done and then drop the engine in (that is when I'll need your mad welding skills)...... Gotta do the gear box too. Do you guys think I should tap it... Im planning on running bigger tires in the future...

This ia awesome! I am trying to get the info to do this to my fj60. Lots of good info! but here come the questions from a rookie.
1) How does the whole cooling thing work? Upgrade radiators, or will the OEM work?
2)Are you going to use a fuel cell or weld another nipple on to your gas tank?
3)How do you attatch all the belts to the new motor? Is it all compatable?
Keep up the hard work, im jelous!

Manuchao! Man sorry I've been on the sidelines... But they've got me working 60+ hours per week. I put in 68 hours 2weeks ago. And looks like its going to get worse. I would luv to go and hang out and do some wrenching. I plan to do this swap in the future.

Would you be able to do a write up?

Shopping list?

1- keep the stock radiator
2- stock gas tank, use existing lines mated to GM lines
3- use GM peripherals and you're all set

mostly the little things are time consuming.

Manuchao, let me know and I'll weld ya up.- I'd keep gear changes to the axles rather than the case- less hassle and less $$$

cheers.

1)I'll probably upgrade the rad. witha built in tranny cooler, that will be bling bling for me..
2) What Philos1 said.
3)Donor engine comes with its own belts, New electrical harness I think.

You are welcome to drop by at any chance you get....sometimes that's all the incentive you will need to start your own swap.

Hey guys. I got some really good literature re: swaps on landcruisers. Let me know if you want it.

PM if yah want a copy.

Dude, my bad, I was talking about the Power steering gear box when I stated if I should tap it for RAM since it has be be rebuilt...or would that be over kill.

Yeah I'll go with different gears on the axle later down the road..for now is just the essentials...

Thanks all !!!:beer::beer::beer:

Ok, so Im back to my conversion and after getting my adapters from Downney I took the new outputshaft to the tranny shop Here are some pics....

This pic L to R
The outputshaft the tranny shop wanted to sell me as they initially said they could not put the one provided by Downey, but a few minutes later they found out they could not used theirs either and went back to the one provided by Downey. Center is the original shaft and then the one provided by Downey out of a 700R tranny....

Now I hope I don't have to cut the shaft at all but I'll know until a get the transfer case back on.....
Dynosoar has gracefully volunteered to help me out on this...
Thanks dude !!!

yeah yeah yeah....

Looks like it's time for the fun to begin! Hey Philos, why don't you go out to Manuchao's with me and we could have a few beers and do some wrenching.

Dynosoar:zilla:

yeah yeah yeah....

Is not like that dude...!!

Yeah c'on over if yah can...
What brand ya'll drink??

Is Chimay and Moose Head to strong for yah :D

let me know when, I'm crazy and only drink the cheap trailer-trash beer: miller high life, rolling rock, bud, you know....but I'll drink whatevs...

I'll check with the wife about maybe Sunday AM? I'll keep you posted

although I do like Stella a lot these days...

No worries about this weekend...I wont get the tranny back till Monday 13th.
Next week------end??

Stella.....well, guess I'll have to try that one then !!

I havent been able to outsource a set of 3/4 exhaust manifolds...
I'll keep looking tho.

Laters,

Outputshaft measured 5 ½" long from 4hole adapter ....................

Cutting...............

Cut !!!!

Dynosoar has mad skills when it comes to cutting ....Used a cutting grinding wheel proved to be the fastest and most efficient way to do it...shaft was grind flat and a tad short maybe 1/16".........
