I like the pic of Chester watching TV. Typical teenager, gets really engrossed, in it.

I'm looking forward to pics and reports, of both the trip and how 44 runs.

You'll have to wait for the 44 report... We're pulling a trailer with the Tundra,this trip.

44 should be ready to go shortly after we get back.

They all have their favorites... Chester seems to love the chicks...

When we first picked him up, he was enthralled with Jazz. We we crated him, he would cry until I downloaded an Art Pepper album to my old iPhone 3 and leaned it against his crate, low volume, infinite loop. He would go right to sleep.

YEP! Charlie will come and lay down at my feet when I play the guitar. Its crazy how much they are in "TUNE" with us.

Our Vet asked that we wait until Chester is 8 months old to have him neutered, so he's pretty rambunctious... He knows what to do and knows what we want him to do, but he does what he wants... I can't wait to see him in the icey river!! Mr Parker (the 12.5 year old Golden that we lost in July) loved that river... As does Gunner.

So, Chester will come home to a surprise snip...

Charlie is a rescue retriever, we got him when he was 10 months. He was snipped the week after we got him. The vet said he had never seen a pair of NUTS on a dog like that before. Also, he recommended to snip at no later than 4 months.

All I know is other than Andrea, he is my best friend. YES, a PITA some days and damn sure ALWAYS NEEDY, but ALWAYS there to lend a friendly paw and love....

We've always had our males snipped at 4 months. Chester's breeders insisted we wait 2YEARS... Some nonsense about preventing diseases and allowing him to grow. We spoke with our Vet and he said 4-8 months... 8 months is optimal... So, we'll go with 8... But, he can't go to a dog park until he's neutered.

I'm the PITA in our family ... Just ask Dianna.

My boys love heavy petting and I love to give it!!

That is the main issue with Charlie, hates other dogs, no matter the age or sex... The vet said he has an OVER-aggressive behavior towards other dogs because of the delayed snipping??? I don't know if I agree with that, I sometimes feel he is just jealous and knows he doesn't want to share his people WITH ANYBODY!....

Well... We're home from the hills... Much warmer at 2400' in Vegas than at 10k' in Colorado!!

We had a great time, even though I wasn't able to do anything except read for the full first week.

But, I felt pain free enough to fish three times, the second week... My son-in-law (Tommy) caught twice as many (as usual), but I caught the big one... A 22" Brown Trout that I faught for 10 minutes and even fell down in a pile of rocks, in a small island.

I can't prove it though... I use my old iPhone 3S as a fishing camera and I left it in the truck... No pics, it didn't happen...

But, that was the most fun I never had!!

Dianna and Tommy did 8 and 12 Mike hikes, at 10.5k'. I didn't attempt that, this trip.

Dianna cooked a lot of great food and Suzy (daughter) and I read a lot of good books... As did Duanna and Tommy.

Gunner taught Chester to Bob for sticks and we couldn't keep Chester out if the river!

I scheduled Dr and Vet apps, once we got down to an area with cell phone connectivity... Dr for me and Vet for Chester... He's gonna get clipped (neutered) on Thursday... I explained it to him and he seems fine with it...

I only have a couple of pics (taken in my iphone) to share right now... My PC died and I've ordered a kit that will allow me to transfer my camera's memiry card contents to my iPad... Should be here in a day or two... Then, more pics!!

Edit: the best news... I forgot... I arrived back home almost entirely pain free!!! Hope it holds!!!

I wasn't clipped that way... But, I was clipped (vas) on Halloween, 1978... Trick or treat!!

I'm calling for a 44 update tomorrow. Should be ready soon. I won't rush them... Better to do it right and get the muffler shop to do it right.

Ordinarily, I would have been anxious to get it back, but I hadn't been feeling like doing much for the last few months. Hopefully the pinched nerve us a thing of the past for a long while!!
 
I like your hood lock with ignition interrupt. I'm going to install it on my 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ 40, I've only had one vehicle taken from me, a 1990 Toyota 4 x 4 Pickup, but they took it with a wrecker. A buddy of mine owns a body shop & he told me to always park your vehicle nose in and cut the steering wheel all the way so that if they pick up the rear end it hits something & keeps them from getting away with the vehicle. I'd rather do a little bodywork than loose a good vehicle!

Yeah, I have several deterrents - but they'll always find a way...

Mine's never outside at night, in town... Always in my garage.

But, I worry about leaving it miles from a paved road, while I camp, fish and hike remote areas... I always hope it's still there when I return... But, given its a remote area, odds are no else is there... And if they are, they are probably out for honest fun.

Most miscreants are not well versed in honest fun, so they seem more likely to find their fun in or around town... At the expense of honest people...

I like the hood lock, but someone could destroy the hood and get it open. But, not quickly and not quietly...

I have a neighbor who designs and installs security systems, I'm going to get him to install one in 44 that has a programmable proximity alarm. I could set it for 10' and put a big sign in the windshield that warns of the proximity alarm and says something like, "I carry a rifle, I am never out of range... If the alarm goes off, take cover.". It's not a hollow threat either... I carry and I will shoot... But, not arbitrarily at someone,.. It could just be a remote admirer... But, my scope will tell the tale... And shooting a couple of rounds into a canyon wall will punctuate my message quite nicely.

It will also be activated by motion sensors in 44 and the alarm will be programmable to 120db... Even at 66 years of age, I should hear that quite nicely.
 
Danny, I like this one best "If the alarm goes off, take cover" in some of your other sample warnings they communicate a threat and that's not always advisable. Just my two cents.
