We got up this morning and drove Morman Well Road, both ways, and hiked several different washes... as long as they weren't too brushy... and too snaky... saw a couple of Golden Eagles and a Predator (yesterday, while driving by Creech AFB).

Thanks!!

Drones in WWII? What was the special?

Not sure what it was called but caught it on PBS a few nights back.

Basically before TV was released to the civilian population, the military used it to fly a plane loaded with 12 tons of explosives into one of Hitler's underground Vgun sites. A pilot would fly the plane within striking distance, bail out and then a mothership with the aid of cameras in the nose and on the instrumentation of the bomb carrier would fly it remotely into the target.

John F Kennedy's brother got killed in one of those - they figured he armed the system and it went off immediately upon arming.

There was a manual safety that prevented a "rogue" radio transmission from setting off the explosives. It did however allow electricity to flow through and ultimately overheated a solenoid on the panel. A lower ranking officer caught the mistake prior to take off but his warning wasn't taken as credible because he wasn't a degreed engineer.

You know it's a REALLY serious war when the sons of the upper crust are used as Guinea pigs too. But hey , that's what the military does during war.

I meant to post this picture and ask if anyone knows what is in the center of it... what is that?
