Where did you get your hardtop?
Nice FJ. I have a few questions.
Could you describe the drivability of the 5 spd transmission? Esp is you have ever driven a 4 spd
How does the A/C work? Who supplied it?
Are you running OME Suspension? And how would you describe the ride? I have org FJ that rides like crap and I have heard the improvement w OME is nice.
You still giving it to the kid when he's 16 or was that when he's 60 ?
Very cool, mine was about 150 units later.
I wonder how many they were making per day?

I have read and discussed with multiple people smarter than me, that the 5 speed is an upgrade no matter the platform. For me and the diesel, it was a foregoing conclusion.

Have you driving a std 3 or 4 spd. What I wanted to know was does the 5spd shift any "less" notchy compared to the latter. Yes I am sure it is better at cruising speeds that's a given. What I want to know is does it shift and better? I realize these are not sports cars but my std 4 spd shifts like the truck it is. Very clunky, very unmodern. If there is no improvement to the shifting feel there is no real incentive for me since my FJ is later, it does ok at highway cruising. It's around town and trafic light to trafic light smoothness that I would want improved. Thanks Mark.
I have driven both 4 & 5 speeds. No real difference.
I have also driven a 5-speed that was much softer to engage then my current transmission. I just figured that was because mine is a brand new tranny whereas the other truck had a rebuild.
Great. Glad j got this from you so I didn't spend a ton of money and end up disappointed. Thanks,Mark
I have the stock 4 speed in my FJ55, and have driven my friends 5 speed swapped FJ62 (was a new H55 when it was installed a few years ago)
I would say that most people swap to a 5 speed for the gearing (lower first gear and the OD) but, the H55 is noticeably less 'notchy' , has a slightly shorter throw, and has the feel of a more modern trans, which most people aren't TOO concerned with, as they are driving a truck/off road vehicle.
