That has got to be the proudest moment for that father/son. GREAT way to cement a life long outdoorsman, being there to guide the young hunter. I wasn't there when my son got his first buck. I was back in camp, and my son went for an afternoon drive with his friend and family and just by accident came across the buck. Oh well, still a moment I will always remember. You will never forget this time, and he will never forget either.

By the way, your 40 is definitely in it's element in those pics.

Rocky Mountain elk. Tires dont hit fenders as the length shortens as the axle goes through the suspension stroke. Its close though.

Handcannon, nobody else shot that week but that didn't matter. This made it all worth it. We got him set up on the elk for a 120 yard shot in the early evening (after seeing them in the morning and bedding down). Fun to see it all live happen in front of your eyes.

FJ is definitely having more fun in Central Oregon than Bellevue, WA. I will try and keep the thread alive with some pic updates.

That info definitely adds to the button busting for proud papa. In my eyes the results are definitely worth the weeks efforts.

That`s assume

Cool rig/build, cool adventure. (I still want to start a go-fund-me to replace your hood though!)

Great rig and great job writing this thread! You've got to occasionally post updates (like you just did) to keep bumping this thread up to the top for forum newbies. I just reread the whole thing, enjoyed the all over again.

I got linked to this build from arfcom. Great job man!

That is one nice big muley you tagged. Technically I think that would be called a 5 X 6. There are two points that, although small, would hang a ring. Way to go! I'm assuming it was taken in Central Oregon also. If so, what's the general area? You don't have to give away your secret hunting spot, just the Oregon hunt area. Seems like I've seen that valley before in the Crooked River water shed. But, there are other areas in Oregon that look similar.

I still say that your 40 is definitely in it's element in those pics.

My family has grown and I need to upgrade to a 4 door rig and looking to sell my FJ40.

Let me know if interested. Haven’t even thought about price, we can work that out.

That's one of the nicest I have seen, the youtube videos of it running no longer work. I'd love to hear it.

D'oh! Our family is already 6, the FJ will be a mumma and I vehicle, with the occasional kid. As we transition to preteens then teens.

You should keep it. You wont get your money back and you built it exactly for yourself.

When your kids are teens they wont want to go out camping with you.

If you can possibly afford to just keep it for then.
